If your looking for exciting move on....if your looking to develop your ear invest in it.
This CD id designed to help you hear and memorize Intervals, thats it .....no magic pills here...but anyone who plays guitar..and i guess piano as well knows this is the most important aspect to developing a strong musical ear. MJS makes really good guitar courses and this is no diffrent but be preparred to make this CD part of your daily routine...i actually made a copy and listen to (disc2) in my car when im on way to work. Now Ive only been using a month but i have already started being able to pick up melody lines from head to guitar ( and i usually totally suck at that) so im a beliver. If your willing to put the time in it will give you the return your looking for buy it.

For absolute beginners only
The title of this course is very misleading. It is far from "complete". The author simply plays each interval, one kind at a time, in different places on the guitar and you find them. It does not have anything about relating a note to a key center/note, or anything about chords (type & function). I recommend Ear Training from Hal Leonard for a more complete course.

Good pratice disks.
Good pratice disks. I play them and sing along in the car. Highly recommended for those needing additional pratice on ear training.

Micro-lesson - Not a Good Value Compared to Other Available Books
I bought this book based partly on its very good reviews on amazon. I used it and was generally happy with it at first. It teaches intervals and it provided a decent coverage of the topic. This topic is not that hard to teach though, it is much harder to learn. I then got several other books, one being Guitar Fret Workbook by Barrett Tagliarino which cost 2 bucks more. That book has taught so much more about so many different topics. It has helped open up the entire guitar neck for me and in only several months I have made huge progress. The Guitar Fret Workbook also has a chapter on intervals and I think it does as good of a job on the subject as complete guitar by ear, if not better. Therefore, I am compelled to tell everyone that there are better guitar books for your money out there. The complete guitar by ear teaches the important topic of intervals - but it really stretches the topic out without adding much substance. This is basically a single chapter lesson that costs 10 bucks - pretty expensive. Also, the cd that has tones for the various intervals would have been so much better if they told you the interval after notes. That way you could shuffle them on an mp3 player and really test your ear. Instead, each track begins by stating the interval before the music tones are played. In summation, Guitar by Ear is not a bad product, it just costs as much as other products that teach all of the topics in Complete Guitar by Ear as well plus so so much more.

Complete Guitar by Ear
I have used the Complete Guitar by Ear course for a few months now and find it an excellent tool to begin playing by ear. It started me off by teaching me how to distinguish between different pitches and helped me develop my playing by ear.

Had high hopes...
I was disappointed in this ear training product. For an absolute beginner we need to know the correct string/fret used. After the first example he doesn't tell us what fret/string he played. It wasn't explained well. I would put it aside for a few months and try again once I'd learned a little more guitar but I didn't trust my ears and didn't want to continue on--if I had gotten it wrong it would take a lot longer later to relearn it correctly. I wish there was a booklet or website to go along with this product--I really wanted it to be what I needed. My search continues...
