A year later, Not sure Waterproof is true.
I used this switch for a DIY LED strip installation in the bed of my F-150. LOVE the concept, but the switch itself is the weakest part of the whole setup. Road spray, road salt (winters) will eventually destroy the switch internally, which corrodes the metal inside and eventually, allows electrons to flow even when powered OFF. The user-side of the switch looks great still, but what's behind that button is falling apart. My first clue was at night when my LEDs had a soft glow to them. They were "off." When I pulled the fuse I had installed, they went completely dark.My second clue was a multi-meter across the fuse gap, with the switch "off," showed between 4 and 6 Volts. It's a 12V truck.Replacing the switch with another one (I bought the 5-pack, now using switch #3), my lights and voltages behave perfectly. So, you get what you pay for. These are cheap, cheap-build, switches. Kept out of the weather, they'll do fine. Mounted behind the tail light of my truck, exposed to water and weather, they'll last just about one year, and you'll need to trade them out. Get the 5-pack... Get another in a few years. Or, just get a switch that's actually waterproof.
