my experience was optimal
The letter is extremely thick, which I was not expecting, but it definitely does work

Really nice pieces of leather
Extremely nice leather. I used these as panels on the side of a barrister bookcase I was refinishing (suggestion from my wife) and it turned out really well. The finish on the leather is fairy tough and so far hasn’t been scuffed/scratched by any of the work I have done on them.I had to punch out holes for bolts to pass through the leather and since the leather was so thick and dense it was super easy to make a nice clean cut instead of a ragged hole that has occurred punching holes in lesser quality leather.Only thing to be aware of is that this stuff is pretty thick - my pieces were just a bit over 1/8” thick which is pretty substantial for leather but that is exactly what I needed for my project.Overall a very good purchase.

Nice quality, needs flattening
This appears to be a nice quality leather. The grain is smooth and has no real defects. The color is beautiful and I’m looking forward to working with it. My only gripe is that my piece was rolled tightly into a box and held quite a strong curl after taking out. I did two rounds of lightly wetting the flesh side and then pressing under books and that seems to be relaxing the leather. The ends seem to want to curl slightly but I’m hoping it will hold flat for my project. Another supplier shipped a piece of the same size wrapped flat and I much prefer this. So despite the extra work I have to do to get it flat, I think it’s a nice quality piece.

Seems like split grain---or some clever composite of leather pulp--not full grain!
This is not full-grain leather--it's split grain at best.

Best mousepad ever
This thing is the best mousepad I have ever used right out of the tube it shipped in. I have a glass desk and my computer mouse hates it. I have been making mousepads out of suede leather for a long time and I planned on using this as-is as a suede mouse pad until I got it and realized that the smooth side really reduces mouse friction better than the suede. When you use a mouse as much as I do, it is the subtle things that make a big difference when you are going into overtime. This thick ol piece of leather is awesome. To prepare it, I just took it out of the shipping tube and bent it gently until it would lay flat. Next, I just used it. Pretty simple. When new, your hand turns the leather color where it rubs on the leather until the polish is mostly worn off, then you are good. Simple soap and water cleans you up. Wipes down with a damp cloth like a champ. My other suede mousepads would eventually smooth over and get kind of glossy looking after about 6 months. I would brush them out and they would get glossy again and again in shorter periods of time until I replaced them. When they got glossy, the mouse would more easily stick in place, thus negating the fine mouse control that I craved. The smooth side of the leather seems to resist this since it is smooth in the first place and the mouse remains both compliant in making very small moves as well as slightly resisting movement when I want it to remain stationary. If you are an artist type or some sort of nut like I am, you know what I mean by having just enough stiction when you want it and just enough willingness to move a small amount when you want that. A difficult balance that only leather seems to achieve for very long.
