The PowerTac E9 is a compact, yet extremely powerful LED flashlight that puts out massive power. Fitted with a CREE XM-L2 LED, the E9 is able to emit a blinding 1020 lumens, when in High mode. Measuring in at just over 5", the E9 is machined from aero-grade aluminum alloy with a military grade hard-anodized finish, making it lightweight and durable. To cycle between the various modes, simply turn the light on using the tail switch, then tap the side switch to change modes. Instant access to strobe is reached by long-pressing the side switch, when the light is off. The E9 will actually automatically memorize and enter the last most used, so there are no surprises. Powering the E9 are either two CR123A or RCR123A batteries, or a single 18650 battery. Being that the E9 is IPX-8 rated waterproof, you don't have to worry if you happen to drop it in a puddle or it begins to rain. Great little light. I've been through enough Streamlight flashlights that I decided to go off the beaten path. I have the streamlight 75813, and after about two years no matter how much I charge it, it just looks like its on the lowest setting. I'm sure I could replace the battery, but from what I've found it isn't cheap. I also have the 74751, great little light, very similar to this PowerTac. The deal breaker here for me though was my friend has had this same light for years, battery has lasted him for a good while, and the battery is more easily replaceable. the 18650 battery is pretty easy to come by, especially for online shoppers. As far as the light itself now, I love it. It is smaller than all of my streamlight flashlights, also much brighter. Completely waterproof, lifetime warranty. (or at least it says so on the box) It's got a sturdy metal feel to it, but it isn't going to add a bunch of weight to your duty belt. Another added bonus, it comes with its own holster. Retention is just right, not loose at all, but not too tight either. Brightness is incredible. It's not so much as one focused beam as it is one flood all together. I shined it down my road one night and I could easily see everything on both sides of the road, and probably a good 300yds down. I can promise no one will be disappointed with the brightness. It has a second button on the back side. When the flashlight is one and you press the side button, it cycles from low, medium, high, highest, and strobe, then back to low. Four light settings is a nice selection. At night time you can easily function with the low setting and save the battery for who knows how long. If the light is off, and you press the side button, it does the strobe function.Very underrated flashlight. I had never hear of these until my friend got one. I would definitely recommend this to anyone. Especially hunters, and law enforcement.

the E5 has a better placement for the selector button
I gave my E5 to my wife when I upgraded to the E9. I originally was going to give the E9 to the wife, however due to the selector button placement, the E5 has a better placement for the selector button. outside of the selector button placement you can't go wrong with the E9.

Not a toy!
Ordered this after reading the reviews and couldn't be happier. I've been dealing with low quality flashlights for too long. This is a serious flashlight.
