The brand new ION 8 is the first LED Grow light on the planet using 6w and 10w chips. Our genuine American made Cree 10w chips are not just advertised as 10w but actually pull 10w of real power and deliver a better lumen/watt output than ANY LED in existence. Our new lights offer a concentration of LED so unparalleled, that even straight lumen output (not adjusted for PAR) is greater than HPS and MH bulbs available. Featuring an array of new features such as fully adjustable LED Spectrum and Intensity, a Custom 4 Phosphor UVB Horicultural Resin boosting Bulb and Patented Fresnel Compound Lens assembiles, this is the most versatile powerful LED on the market.

Best Light I've Had So Far
So far, I've had 6 Blackstars:-The 240w H/O veg light-2 Ion 8 PROTOTYPE* 9-spots (not for sale)-2 of this model right here (the non-prototype market version)-1 16-spot ChromeThese lights are OUTSTANDING so far, but I have not flowered with them yet. This review is based on veg only. This is what I am rocking:-2 of these lights (instead of 2 equivalent HPS) ---saved 50% of what I'd spend on electric with HPS + A/C-2 light rails (each one was on its own rail, side by side, doubling coverage area for almost no added energy use, thus cutting my expense down to 25% of what I would spend on stationary HPS lighting)-A Lighthouse Hydro 6.5x6.5 tent (lights were backed off slightly more than 3' max recommended distanceto accomplish this)-12-1 lighting (Lighting that keeps day-night responsive plants in veg by putting an hour in the middleof the night cycle, using a total of only 13 hours of light per day for veg), cutting my power usage byalmost half AGAIN (making the grand total 13.5% of what I would spend on HPS lighting running stationary24/7 for veg)The veg results look every bit as good as what I had running the H/O veg light 24/7 stationary, and every bit as good as running the prototypes 18/6 on rails, all using a fraction of the power, proportionally speaking. When I flowered with the prototypes**, I had good results with a combination of peppers:TS Morouga, Aji Lemon, Corno Di Torro, and Butch T's, predominantly. Here's how I feel this light compares to its predecessors:Lenses: These are often tricky, as companies must dance around patents to accomplishlensing, as I understand it. These, however, are excellent- far superior to the sheet lenses ofthe H/O model, and way better than the prototype's somewhat opaque-looking lenses. The light is also less harshly focused, compared to the Chrome's.I can't speak from experience, but from what I understand of most of Gotham's competitors, the lenses on this light are equal or superior to the majority. You still get Calmag issues with these lights if you don't overcompensate, but that's the onlydrawback. Coverage and penetration are EXCELLENT!The cords on these lock in with the "elbow" of the cord at a right angle, so the light can beon a rail without the cord jiggling loose any internal components of the power socket. Thisis a very good thing.I'm definitely a fan of Gotham products. I'm going to try a couple competitors for comparisonreasons, so I can say they're every bit as good or better (depending on the size/model) withoutbeing full of it. But, just seeing how big an improvement this light is vs. other older models, I amtotally sold that it is a hyper-competent light.NOTE: This light is WAY MORE GENTLE than the Chrome is for 2 reasons.1: Multi-layer faceted lenses redistribute light to widen the beam angles sothey're not too intense, which makes the cal-mag problem way less severe comparedto the Chrome.2: It's adjustable, so if you do get bleaching issues, you can fix with cal-mag and*turn the light down for good measure. All in all, a very solid product, and I highly recommend it.
