I absolutely love these Evans Hydraulic heads
I absolutely love these Evans Hydraulic heads! I have a set of 1976 Ludwig Vistalite drums which, as anybody who has ever played them knows, they are very loud drums. I have used several different heads on them, including Remo Pinstripes, Evans EC2's, clear Emperors, and others, which have all sounded very good, but I have always had to use some dampening such as Moonjel or control rings to tame them down a bit. I have thought about trying the Hydraulics for quite a while and recently when it came time to change heads on my toms (13,14, 16, & 18) I decided to try the blue Hydraulics. They not only look great on my black vista kit, they sound amazing. I tuned them just a little past the wrinkles and with no muffling what-so-ever, they give me exactly the sound I have been trying to get for years. Solid attack, nice fat thud with limited overtones, and beautiful low end tone. I highly recommend them to anyone who wants to have a great thuddy sound without too many overtones. These heads are not dead sounding, they sing beautifully, just without the excess ringing. Love them!!

I put these blue Evans Hydraulics on my 1976 Ludwig Vistalite kit which inludes 13,14,16, and 18 inch toms because they are very loud drums and I wanted to tame them down a little without using a bunch of muffling. I had been using Remo Pinstripes before and they sounded really good, but I had to use tone rings or Moonjel on them otherwise they were very ringy with overtones. I could not believe the difference when I switched to the hydraulics. I use no muffling at all and they sound fantastic. Great attack, nice deep punchy fat tone, and they also look great on my black vista kit. Even the 18 inch floor tom sounds great with no muffling. I would recommend these heads to anybody.
