Guitar: The First 100 Chords for Guitar

Best tutor books available.
Having worked for 35 years as a violin teacher (the past 6 also teaching large Ukulele groups) i am well aware of the standard of instrumental "tutor books" available. Most have been modelled on "a Tune a day" (published in the 1930's) or ,for a non classical approach Mel Bay. The standard is ,without exception," Dire",similar to a cook book where you are lucky to find one "useable" recipe in 100.So when i decided to re-learn guitar (after many years in the wilderness) i feared the worst ,throwing more money down the drain.Mr Joseph Alexander's books are a revelation, ( i think i now have 8,they are fast becoming an obsession....the only downside),this guy really knows how to break complex idea's down to basics ,you can choose your field (Rock,Blues etc) and amazingly the audio downloads work! (also congrats on the youtube stuff)..........i short i wish you all the success in the world , it's about time someone took the world of music publishing by the b***s and produced something of quality to actually help ,rather than hinder the army of hungry self taught instrumentalists out there.Keep 'em coming Joseph!

lot easier with this book
wow, itried to learn guitar 17 years ago, i dont think this book was available then and if it was i am sure i would be an accomplished guitarist by now, but sadly i gave up trying, since i bought this book i have found learning guitar so interesting and considerably easier to follow, the method shown here is what i might call "a page turner" am looking forward to the next set of instruction, i would recommend giving this one a try , it is certainly proving to be an asset to my learning guitar, Cheers

They give a free book for good reviews.
Am always cynical of the free offers for a good review. No thanks. The idea of a review is it should be honest, so their offer puts me off straight away. Keep your freebie. The book is okay with clear print and good diagrams. Not having finished it yet so can't comment on later stuff, but I had to seek clarification on the Barre chords section from a local player, which was disappointing. " There are many ways to finger a 5th string Barre chord..." err how about showing us some then? Isn't that what the book is for? Confusing in places. I did like the idea of pairing a new chord with one you have learnt. I though some of the practice tips were just plain silly. Finger the chord, now touch your leg, repeat 7-8. Probably better books on Amazon. The reviews don't match the product.

Easy to follow guitar tuition.
Have had a guitar for ages but needed a straight forward, easy to read and understand method to really start learning properly. This book is just the thing. You can select where you want to start in the book and miss bits if you want. I find it just the thing to pick and put down whenever i need.

Re-learning
Having decided to come back to guitar playing this is a great way to re-learn not only the chords themselves but some of the music theory that eluded me as a youngster. As a teenager 50 odd years ago I played briefly in a youth club group. Needless to say, the focus was on 60's rock and an avoidance of complicated chord structures. I really want to grasp the basics as I work to, hopefully, a more accomplished ability. This is an easy to read learning aid which is already encouraging me to persevere. Who knows what's next?
