Wonderful All Around (Highly Recommended)
As someone new to loose leaf teas, I wasn't sure about this purchase. I bought the established black tea favorites (Assam, English & Irish Breakfast, etc.), but I wanted something more suited to my tastes, and I've never tried rose-flavored anything. I was intrigued. That being said, I love this. The aesthetic is very pleasing; the tin is lovely and I will most definitely keep it for future tea storage. The aroma of the tea itself feels decadent; I couldn't stop smelling it, both in the tin and after brewing. It's so rich with the rose gently caressing your senses after every whiff. And it's delicious, smooth with an almost sweet aftertaste. I'm severely lactose intolerant, and I appreciate how delightful this tea tastes rolling around my tongue without creamer or (almond) milk. I used a single spoonful of sugar after my initial test and I didn't need more (I plan to try this with Belgian rock sugar - the one from Teavana, made from beets - to see if there's a difference). As previously mentioned, I'm hardly an accomplished tea expert or connoisseur; I've spent days researching the history of tea and the differences between the many, many varieties. I'm a noob at this. But of the black loose leaf teas I've tried thus far, this one was the best, and it was good enough for me to actually take the time to write a review. I don't know if it's the rose, the Chinese Keemun black tea, or just the perfect combination of both, but this tea will certainly become (and, hopefully, remain) a staple in my new tea cupboard.
