Quality Mansfield Flush Valve; No Plumber Needed
My toilet was phantom flushing for weeks, and I couldn't figure out how to fix it. I replaced the seal several times, but nothing. Then I decided to replace the entire flush valve. This genuine Mansfield part fixed the problem instantly! Sometimes generic is fine, but in this case, I'm glad I spent the extra few dollars for the quality name brand. Even better... I didn't have to waste money on an expensive plumber! It was so easy to replace myself, I can't recommend this product enough!

Not as simple as replacing a flapper
I am used to American Standard toilets. When you heard a leak it usually means the flapper has to be replaced. A very easy task. This house came with Mansfield toilet. The task is not as simple. First, finding a replacement part is not easy. A local hardware or box store will probably not have it in stock or even heard of Mansfield. Secondly, it is not as simple as replacing a flapper. The entire flush valve has to be replaced. To do so, you have to remove the tank from the bowl, disconnecting the water line first and drinking the tank completely. Once you do that, removing the valve and replacing it is not difficult. I do not know why Mansfield made their toilet in this manner. Maybe the seal is supposed to last decades. The original for me lasted 3 years, shorter than a flapper.

The Mansfield flush valve is the most reliable and dependable type of toilet flush valve ever invented. Note: The black colored type #211 is rated at 1.6 gallons per flush. The white colored type #210 is rated at 3.5 gallons per flush. Other than the amount of water per flush - they are interchangeable. The model #211 I installed in December 2012 is working perfect. 14 years and zero hang-ups. Flaw-less operation.
