learned the hard way
I was initially put off by the price when I decided to get a more powerful battery for my Porter Cable 20V drill. So instead, I bought a much cheaper battery that was "compatible" with Porter Cable. Wrong. I had to modify the guides on the battery to make it work. Then it crapped out after about 20 cycles. And I did not realize how short the battery life was until I bought actual Porter Cable batteries. WOW! What a difference. So in spite of the slightly higher price tag, they are actually cheaper when you consider what you get. You get batteries that fit...nicely. You get batteries that last a long time. I can get 4 hours of hard use out of a battery in my reciprocating saw. All day and then some in a 3/8 drill, drilling 3/4 inch holes through framing lumber. I don't know how long they last in my circular saw...long time. So don't waste your money on "compatible', buy these instead

Name brand is worth it
Much better than the cheap knock off brand I had bought before. I mean there is something to say about paying Twice as much but getting a run time that is almost four times as long from the real brand battery. The little 1.5 amp hour ones that came with the tools ran longer than the 6 amp hour knock off brand. These stay cooler when charging and they are certainly more sturdy. I have used these in a small circular saw, saber saw, reciprocating saw, oscillating tool, 2 drills and a impact driver, all of them performed perfectly with no overheating of the battery even on a day where it was over 115F here in Arizona.

Long-range power
As a contractor, there is a nice benefit to having cordless tools so long as they are ready to use at a moments notice. The original batteries that came with my Porter Cable tools are perfect for home-owner projects, or even craft making, but for long-range jobs you need a larger amp hour rated battery. The bigger batteries like this 4.0 amp hour are very helpful, and have performed very well. The other day I used my cordless circular saw to cut strips. I was able to cut 5 5" x 8' long strips from 1/2" plywood. Then, I used the same battery to drive an impact driver. I pre-drilled over 30 5/32" holes in concrete, and then used the same impact driver to screw the 1 1/4" screws in. All this was using the same battery. There is still power left in it, but the point is that I accomplished the task without recharging. There are many other lesser priced batteries available, but money-savings is not everything when you are on the job site. Spend the extra and buy a genuine product that Porter Cable provides.

They're expensive, but I wanted the actual brand.
I've read many reviews of the knockoffs and I wasn't impressed, not even with half the cost. I've used these and recharged them multiple times without issues. I used 1 of these batteries to drill dog holes in my bench and never had to switch. Just make sure you charge them before use.

Found on Amazon on sale. Could not find anywhere else.
Was looking for new batteries because I like the drill and circular saw they operate. Could not find OEM, and reviews for knockoffs were not good. Got 2 batteries for a great price when they showed up on an Amazon pop up. That meant that I did not have to replace 2 tools I use often and like.

Excellent Value
Compared to the replacement batteries for my dewalt drills these are a huge value. Paid a little over a bill for a pair of them and couldn't be happier with the performance of both. Ive used them during a bathroom remodel in almost all of my porter cable cordless tools with zero issues. They last longer than i do while using the circular saw to cut several pieces of paneling. The sawzall to rip a couple 2x4s up for a new medicine cabinet hole and exhaust fan mount. Used the impact driver sinking 2 inch drywall screws and the multi-tool the most and never had to change batteries all day. Thats by far the most impressive considering i had to replace the multi-tool blade halfway through the day. I hate to think that porter cable may be going the way of the dodo because they have offered excellent value and performance in both the 18v and 20v cordless tools ive got.

Working well for me!
At this price, I wasn’t sure what to expect. Cheaper batteries tend to be, well, cheap batteries. I had a couple of big projects, and wanted to have some extra power on hand, so I gave these a try. No complaints! These cordless tools were never designed to drill 1/2” holes 14-16” deep in a log, but that’s what I needed to do. Did the batteries heat up? Yes. Did the tool struggle? Yes. But I got the job done. My cordless nearly kept up toe-toe with an old, 6 amp corded drill, and these batteries were none the worse for wear over the 6 months since I completed those projects. For me, the gamble paid off! I would buy again.
