Will this work with a t-mobile sim card?

I know this is a old question but putting my 2 cents in. I currently use this as my home internet with T-Mobile. I have the T-Mobile ONE Plus International Plan for a Tablet which does allow unlimited data, but I do have a monthly cap of 50GB so when I go over that, I do get reduced to a slower speed. It is usable when that happens, but does make streaming and things harder. Otherwise it works great.

Is this device "unlocked" for use on other compatible networks?

I use this exact modem for rural customers for internet service and AT&T works fine on this modem using a business plan and they have 8MB, 12MB, and 50MB speeds with Data caps at 50GB, 75GB, and 125GB before slowing down to 3G which is still good speed for usage. Verizon however does not work but accepts the SIM card and acts like it does just cannot browse. Verizon will tell you the service is not supported on this device.

Confusion: How to use Wan port? I could understand wan port on router, but in modem.... What dose that means? What kind of advantage would it make?

The WAN port on the router is Internet in and the switch ports and built in access point distribute it to client or end point devices.

what size Sim card does this device uses?

It's a micro-sim. But you can easily place a nano sim into the slot, just line it up on the side opposite of the notch, then latch the cover. There should be plenty of tension to keep it in place between the pins and the latch. Mine is working just fine this way until I can get an adapter.
