Absolutely beautiful
I don’t often write reviews but I found this book so wonderful I had to! My children and I have had a difficult year, leaving our home very suddenly just before the first lockdown, and then finding somewhere new to live and settling into a new life in the midst of this years global chaos. I was searching for books to reassure them gently that whatever happens I’ll always be here for them and this book is so moving, and such a beautiful poignant story. My 5 year old adores it and picks bits out during the days - talking about us building our fortress and setting love aside etc. I feel very grateful to have found it and have actually printed out the words to keep with me! I would recommend it to anyone, child or adult to be honest.

Not for us sadly
I had such high hopes for this book. I loved the ideology of what it was trying to convey. It came and I was so looking forward to reading it with my 4 year old son.... we did and sadly we didn’t love it. We revisited it a handful, trying so desperately to fall in love with it, but again , we just don’t love it.YES, the illustrations are so beautiful drawn, (the best part!) and the story does have meaning, but reading it was static, it didn’t flow, it didn’t capture our imagination. So for a 4 year old? Nope.

Heart warming
This book pulls at my heart strings! My daughter is such a daddy's girl and she really enjoyed me (mummy) reading this to her. She ran straight downstairs to daddy to give him a huge cuddle

A beautiful bedtime book, especially for dads and daughters...
This is just a lovely book. As a father to two daughters I always found it a bit of a struggle to find relevant books (lots for dads and sons, or mothers and daughters). Even when I used to read Guess How Much I Love You to my eldest I used to have to adapt it to suit. So What We'll Build is just perfect for us. But even if you're not a dad and daughter the book is awesome because the test itself isn't gender-specific. I'd say this is Oliver Jeffers' best book so far, and I really hope someone out there is making an animated version...
