No, it does not have a plastic stand. The car is screwed to the cardboard insert in the box but that cardboard insert does not function as a stand for the car outside of the box.

The hood and trunk were attached separately but wont open. How do you open them?

The hood and trunk can not be opened. Only doors open on this model.
