A very important book
The emergence of metamodernism, as it is disclosed through this text, is a meaningful and significant contribution to our collective capacity for sense making and meaning making. I really hope that increasing numbers of people get exposed to these ideas, and more importantly, to this kind of perspective taking, so that we can help each other to pass through critical thresholds that need to be crossed, socially, culturally, politically, and philosophically, in order for us to co-create a social world that embodies and represents our shared potential as a species.

Dangerous, Humbling, insightful masterpiece
I sit before you a humbled child, viewing for the first time the world through a powerful new set of eyes.Hanzi speaks with a deeply well earned heir of confidence in this book as he lays bare the deepest and most personal layers of our inner worlds and why our inner worlds and their development matter.I'd been dissatisfied with postmodernism's incoherence, lack of metanarrative (although I didn't know the word for it at the time), and lack of criticism of itself and its methods. Eventually online debates lead me to a person who recommended some articles on Metamoderna written by Hanzi and associates, and the comprehensive fullness of his perspectives and approaches brought me a lot of hope. When I heard about this book coming out I had to have it, and I haven't been able to put it down since I picked it up.Make no mistake, this book is not for the faint of heart. Hanzi is not gentle with his dismantling of bad ideas and bad theory, and his familiarity with the topic and comprehension of it shines through in very clear, straightforward arguments with solid structure, objective and useful measures and interpretations of human development and politics. He does not hold any punches, and they are deeply correct punches, so they will hurt if you are not ready for them. He, and reviewers, call this book dangerous. It absolutely is. The concepts in it will absolutely be simplified and flattened, misinterpreted and miscommunicated countless times in the future to potentially devastating effects. But the perspective of adult developmental psychology and developmental stages with the inclusion of complexity presents a perspective and a model for thinking about the world and solving it's problems that the world is in dire need of.This book provides the most comprehensive model and codebook of metamodern cultural code I've read and nothing else comes within miles of it. Along the way, it will bring you to tears, make you laugh, and give you a profound sense of gentle hope, that our problems are not as hopeless as they seem without this perspective. His writing style is engaging, casual, and so honest it may bring you to tears with it's profound sincerity.

Young people with an inspiring vision
I don't pretend to understand all the author has written about the Metamodern vision, but the parts I do understand inspire me with hope for the future.

Disappointed
With a background in mental health/behavioral science and an interest in metamodernism, I really wanted to love this book. However, I had to choke down the first 123 pages and found them somewhere between pretentious and vapid, with sparse truths and bits of offense thrown into the mix. Metamodernism is a concept worthy of reading about and developing further, but this book falls short in my opinion.

and I think it makes good on its promise
I found it essential reading for a student of philosophy and life. I think it offers a new way of understanding the world, one that adds clarity and so-called real-world application, and I think it makes good on its promise. Amazing for anyone already interested in politics, sociology, systems theory, futurism, history, or numerous other touched upon areas. It claims to be a metamodern guide and I think it is also essential reading for readers familiar or unfamiliar with metamodernism. It accurately presents, adds to, and renders the "philosophical engine" of metamodernism visible for all understand the associated ideas and behaviors. I would quote some of the actual text but it is too difficult to decide which sections to value above others.

Wonderful book.
Wonderful book. Provocative, smart, readable and above all life-changing. For people who want to think in systemic and clear ways about the world as it is and about its potentials.

A valuable & accessible guide to this brave new 'metamodernism' world we find, or indeed lose, ourselves in
For those trying to make some sense of the world in 2017, this is essential reading. It's one of those books that articulates the thoughts you have when you're at your most brilliant, and grounds them in a theory and system so you can integrate them into your day to day intelligence. I would recommend it unreservedly to Twitter politicos, armchair philosophers and even those in fields like sales & coaching - this book, for example, makes so much sense of the world of NLP without even mentioning it.It's written with a lot of verve, personality and chutzpah - some might say cockiness but it ain't bragging if you can back it up, and the text is more lucid and accessible than anyone reading about post-post-modernism should really dare to expept. The book isn't short, but you may be surprised how quickly you get through it.Although a hygge free zone strictly speaking, anyone with an allergy to books about the superiority of the Nordic way of life (there's been a few) might find themselves sneezing as the book could be read, I suppose, as a Hegelian version of that. But if you can get past that, there's a lot of value here.

The epitome of a 'good read' - it might actually make you do something.
This book simply necessitates a five star rating. Freinacht, even if offensive to you (potentially even wrong in places - a possibility he doesn't deny), has a bold and pertinent message for the world, a new perspective, his perspective - a meta-modern perspective. I couldn't believe the resonance I felt within just a few pages. Prepare yourself to be challenged, as a reader, and as a human being. Exposure to this book could be a life changer for you. It's a 'well done' from me, Hanzi.

Potentially world-changing insights, but the "psycho-active" style will put many off
The tone will create as many enemies as advocates, but for those ready to listen this book contains the source code for cultural renewal. It's something of a book-length introduction to the Nordic Ideology, so if you're likely to be antagonised by the intentional, "psycho-active" baiting of the post-modern mind, I'd suggest getting up to speed with the core concepts of this first book at metamoderna.org and skipping to the second.

Great!
The one thing that made me suspicious of buying this book was seeing either 5 star reviews or 1 star reviews, therefore I'm giving it 4 stars! Great in depth exploration of the political and psychological aspects of metamodern thoughs! Inspiring!

Necessarily rebellious in the most polite metamodern way.
A very important book. Well done Hanzi !For some people , this will be the synthesis of awareness inner and outer of events and changes going on at the edge and centre of your awareness for the past few years.
