3" River Country (RC-T3) Easy Mount Adjustable BBQ, Grill, Smoker Thermometer Temperature Gauge (50 to 550 F)

The thermometer was large easy to read, gives the impression that you have ideal temperatures for smoking, BBQ, and grilling. Who knows at this point if any of this is accurate or just a suggestions As always it’s to early to have an opinion of the functionality of the product.I’d have to take it to a lab to do t comparative study. The only draw back was that the mounting thread was a pipe thread, and I had to enlarge the hole in my smoker lid.

Calibrated it in boiling water. It works fantastic and is way better and easier to read for my smoker’s factory junk thermometer.

I have a perfectly fine, accurate thermometer I installed on the dome of my Weber 22" kettle grill years ago, but wanted to get one that had a little longer stem to get closer to the grate, where you should actually be reading your temps. The dome has the highest temps in your grill, it is not indicative of the temp of your food on the cooking grate. I also use a digital Thermoworks cooking grate sensor to be absolutely sure of the temp, but for normal grilling, the dome thermometer is fine. I use it more to see my kettle temp to adjust my lower damper to control the heat. If I'm roasting or smoking on my kettle, then the digital probe is what I pay attention to.

I bought this thermometer for my smoker because of its size (3") and the fact that the center was suppose to be 1/4" in diameter! The one that I received WAS NOT...it was 1/2" in diameter. Luckily I have a reamer that I could ream out the original hole in my smoker to 9/16" and then get it to screw on smoker. River Country" offers the same dial in both center sizes of 1/4" AND 1/2"...THIS ONE was suppose to be the 1/4" one. I don't know if it is because of mixed stock at the warehouse or in packaging? But its wrong! I called River Country several times to tell them about the problem, but I always received a recorded message. I wanted to talk to a human and never left a message because I hate phone tag! Because of the size problem I can only give it four (4) stars.Now the dial itself is great! It seems to be quite accurate and the 3" size and colored areas allows me to view my smoker temperature from quite a distance. Therefore I don't have to go outside as much on nasty days and I still can smoke my stuff.

I have not used this, but I did purchase for my new 18" Weber Smokey Mountain. Based on reviews I trust that this a good thermometer and the Weber is kind of cheesy in comparison. The reason for this review is that I was unsure as to whether I should go with the 2", 3", 4" or 5" diameter. I purchased the 3" and it was the perfect size, it is allot bigger than the Weber thermometer, But is the perfect size. 4" or larger would have been to big. You can tell this is high quality. Can't wait to use the new smoker.UPDATE: used the smoker last weekend, the thermometer did not work well. It sticks at various temps, and then releases jumps rapidly and then sticks again. Very disappointed. I purchased this based on reviews. I have no idea what the temp really is. I looks nice on the smoker and is easy to see but the accuracy is good remotely good, I am glad that I have a thermopro T20 that works great.

I smoke many types of meat and use my smoker regularly. I need to have an accurate reading or the meat will not cook properly and turn out in an acceptable way. This thermometer is just the ticket. I've worked in restaurants for a major portion of my professional career and being able to calibrate your thermometers is crucial. I will advise everyone out there to NOT BUY A THERMOMETER THAT IS NOT ADJUSTABLE. You'll just be throwing your money away in the long run.This has an easy to read, large gauge, and is color coded for even easier readings from a distance. Installation is easy and anyone should be able to do it. Many don't know how to calibrate a thermometer. Either boil some water and see if the gauge reads 212 degrees, or fill a glass or bowl with ice, add water to fill it, and then take a reading. It should read just barely above 32 degrees. Adjust and you're done.The thermometer installed on my smoker was a piece of garbage, and even though I love the smoker, that part was cheap, as is on many outdoor grills and smokers. Save your money in the long run and get one of River Country's ADUSTABLE thermometers. You'll love it!

It arrived in a timely matter and when I checked it for accuracy it was accurate.
