The perfect visual tool for learning time and working through time lapse story problems!
My 3rd grader is learning about time right now in school. She’s finding the story problems very difficult. My husband and I are finding that it’s very hard to try to help her work through problems without some kind of visual aid. I looked to trusty Amazon to see what we could get that would be helpful. This has turned out to be the BEST learning tool we’ve ever purchased. I’m particularly happy that turning the minute hand all the way around the clock advances the hour hand. It helps when we are working through problems.I use it to quiz her, I’ll set the time and have her tell me what time it is, or I ask her to set it to a time. Then we can work out story problems together. Like if you want to be done with your homework by 6:15 and you have 25 minutes of reading to do, 15 minutes of science and 40 minutes of math, what time do you have to start your homework? These story problems used to end in a lot of frustration on all our parts. Now she takes her little clock and sets it for the time and moves the minute hand backward (or forward depending on the problem) to help her find the answer. I see that she’s more of a visual learner and this clock helped out a lot with that. So much so that she offered to pay me back for it, I of course declined, but it goes to show the value if your kiddo is struggling.I saw that other reviewers have mentioned that the minute hand gets off sync with the hour hand. Ours hasn’t had that problem, but I told my daughter to only ever move the minute hand and never try to hold the hour hand in place while moving the minute hand. It seems like it would be easy to realign them, but I’m not sure and I’m not willing to experiment on my perfect functioning clock. It also is a little smaller than I imagined it would be, but it’s perfect for little hands and the size makes it easy to store. I’m very pleased that it has a removable stand, it keeps it in a good position to see when doing homework.

Essential tool.
Such a helpful visual for students learning time and worth the money. Hour hand moves as the Minute hand moves around from 0 to 12. Effective for EL learners. Would buy again!

Great, but some flaws
This has been really helpful with teaching my kindergartener to tell time, and he really likes to use it. All pieces feel very durable except for the hour & minute hands, which are okay but could be better. This is an educational clock so it must be turned manually. Set a time and ask the kid to tell you what it is, or have him set the time you want. Other reviewers have commented on the stand being loose, we haven't had this problem, it is still very secure. Other reviewers have commented on the hands being or becoming loose and out of adjustment, we have had this problem. I asked my kid to tell me what time it was and he had a little trouble understanding because the minute hand was slightly off. The hour hand would not be quite at 1, for instance, but the minute hand would be a tick or two past the 12. I took the hands off and applied some super glue to the hour hand, while holding it where it should be, this didn't interfere with it's rotation. It's a design problem, not that it became worn out. When you unscrew the hands you can see there is clearly just a tad too much play with the hour hand. Anyway, it's good now and the kid wants to set the time every time he sees it. For the price it's worth it to me, but it definitely could have been designed just a bit better.

Thats what she said
Now when they tell you it’s small you better listen. This clock is super cute and definitely will get the job done. However. Pay close attention this is TINY. A good 5 incher. I didn’t pay attention to the measurements so that’s on me. But all in all. Hard plastic. Nice little stand. Great function with turning the hands. The minute hand is blue which matches the minutes in the clock as the hour hand is red to match the hours on the clock. Great buy all in all.

Essential tool for teaching analog time-reading
This is a public service announcement for anyone needing to teach time-telling from first-grade/kindergarten and on. My daughter was able to read the basics on clocks when it was introduced to her in first grade but would get a little confused when getting into odd times like _:42 or _:53. I ordered one of these now that she is in third grade and low and behold, the day it arrived, she got math homework that night requiring them to read a time and add 35 minutes or 22 minutes, etc. in word problems. This was SO useful! To be able to see it and move it around on the clock face instead of figuring the math in an abstract concept, made it so easy for her to understand and move to next level of determining times. They also needed to break down the hours into fractions like 2/3rds of an hour or 5/12ths of an hour. Again, so much easier holding this in your hand to divide up the minutes. The other thing I like about it is that the hour hand moves in conjunction with the minute hand so my daughter could see that when it's getting to 12:00 for example, the hour hand is still technically 11:_ _ even though it's closer to the 12 hour. That was a lightbulb moment. This is something all the lower grades should have in the classroom. Shocking to me that there are older kids out there that are unable to read analog clocks. This is a basic skill all kids should get a hold on.

Not Sturdy and So Small
I am not a fan of this clock! Is is so light weight and flimsy! If you or your student wants to change the time, you have to be holding the clock or it just slides across the table. I bought this in hopes that I would be able to use it for both of my children, I doubt it will last that long. We have many Learning Resources products that we love, this one is not up to their normal standards.
