Arctic Air AF23

Needed to replace an older commercial reach-in freezer. This Arctic Air unit had the same basic specifications as the older unit and the price was very affordable. After it was delivered and put into place, it cooled down rapidly and runs great.

I have just ordered this freezer. Waiting to see. When I saw the review of one person (who said it was a "crap," I am thinking of canceling the order.

This is a very good freezer. When we initially got it, it did not work correctly. I called the factory and they did all they could to resolve the problem. They have a local contractor do their warranty work. All is good, excellent customer service in my opinion.

Extremely loud. I know it’s a commercial machine - I’m using it in a commercial space, but I’m about to forego the nice sleek look of the stainless upright for a white chest freezer just to avoid the incessant loud humming. Maybe for some it’s not a big deal, but if you’re in a relatively quiet retail space and at all sensitive to sound, this thing will drive you bonkers. Bummer because it’s a nice looking machine, but I’d rather have to defrost something now and then over deal with this noise - I can barely hear myself think or speak to/hear customers over it!

Had a nice dent in the front lower panel when it arrived. Pounded out nicely without much effort. Compressor is rather loud compared to its refrigerator sibling. I do not know if that is a product of its function or an aberrancy. I put in some fiberglass insulation around the periphery of the condenser and it quited down some. It's going in a house we are in the process of restoring and we dig the industrial look and the space.

I really love this pro freezer, which I keep in my So. Cal. garage. Stores full size sheet pans long way in, so its amazing for freezing ahead for events and parties.

Thought the instruction manual and wheels were locked in the freezer as the door would not open. customer service said that happens sometimes and to try to pick the lock? It was actually pretty easy to use a pocket knife to unlock it (the lock is useless). Still couldn’t open the door. a screw from somewhere had fallen into the slot where the locking latch moves and was keeping the door from opening (see picture). Had to figure out how to shimmy the screw up so the door would open. door handle is shallow compared to prior freezer and door can be hard to open.

The freezer is really nice, but a little noisy.
