Excellent Detail, Line Drawings, Photos - Just a Bit Small
Very nice, concise blend of history of the aircraft and colors. Excellent for modelers. Two small things - the size of the book is a bit small - wish the drawings could have been bigger and there are few top view or bottom view drawings. Other than that, excellent detail shown as to the changes in each variant of the plane, the different colors used by different nations and a lot of info on the changes made in the Mirage's history.

Excellent Mirage III Reference
It's not heavy on technical info, but if you really like Dassault's Mirage III, then get this book. Great pics, and reasonable details on all variants.......

Mirage III Around the World
A well presented and a good choice of photographs with direct information and a resume of the principal operator of this fighter. Also is a good auxiliary to modeler on colors and camouflages.

A comprehensive guide
Given the number of pages, it is a good source of background information about this family of aircraft. It has brief entries about development, deployment and operations. Very light reading with little need for technical background to understand and appreciate. Does not have a very high proportion of illustrations or photos, just sufficient to get the point of the text across.

Fantastic for modellers but more information on operations would be welcome for general aviation enthusiasts
Mirage III has launched the arguably most ubiquitous non-US Western warplane family yet gets relatively moderate specialist coverage in English speaking press. Hence the current book being a fantastic addition to all aviation enthusiasts who have not mastered French as a language but very much crave more information on the Mirage III, 5 and 50 families than is commonly available in avaiation reference books. The book has an introductory section on the postwar French jet fighter development, the genesis of the Mirage line and then launches into the various models and their users. It also includes derivatives of the basic III, 5 and 50 lines, such as the Israeli Kfir and the South African Cheetah. The focus on the modeller is clear - with profiles of practically all users and colour schemes, including real oddities like the Saudi purchased ones for Egypt. This makes it an invaluable resource for modellers and it is a full five star effort in this respect. For the more generally minded aviation enthusiast some more information on the operational history and use would have been very welcome. While some basics (entry of service and phasing out in some French squadrons; the Israeli wars, where the aircraft have been utilized...) re provided, they do little more than scratch the surface. In essence this would be less of a problem, had there been a raft of other books on the subject to complement such information. As it is, one has to count it amongst the most useful resources a modeller can count on in terms of the early Mirage jets but with some targeted additions to the text content the book would become a solid five star effort for all others, too.

Cor.... Wow!
I am not an expert on this topic as are my fellow reviewers so I acquired the book to find out a bit more of the marque and where it was flown. I got this and far far more; there are many many side views of the jets in the camo of the operating air forces reminiscent of visits to the dentist reading Air International. But I also found the helpful profiles of the different versions in one comparative diagram plus the equivalent showing areas of change very valuable. I am a big fan of Histoire & Collections books even when I have to read them in French; this is in English and is a bargain.

Interesting Book
This book is laid out differently to the others in the series I guess because the Mirage III is not exported to as many countries as say the Megs are, but overall laid out well lots of detail and interesting history of the development. Good reference material but I am sure there are other books out there that go in to much more detail on this particular Mirage.

The world's most well-known delta is no fata morgana
Google 'Mirage' and you'll most likely find a reference to Marcel Dassault's ubiquitous jet fighter. This fine publication, translated from the French language, gives a compact but thorough view into the development and operation of this legendary delta-winged Mach 2 fighter. The colourful side views are a feast to behold for the modeller and enthusiast alike.

Excellent base for modelers
Not 5 stars because of a lack of pictures, and a few information. But it's filled with color profiles, ideal for modelers. There are the profiles of most of any single Mirage built for L'Armée de l'Air, and a few examples of foreign users.
