Wesco Grandy – German Designed - Steel bread box for kitchen / storage container, Red

I spent several days debating whether to buy a $100 bread box. It seems a little crazy, frankly. But boy am I glad I didn't settle for the cheap imitation. This thing is AWESOME.First, it is build like a tank. The metal is very thick, the enamel is heavyweight and flawless. I love the handle, the hinges, the ribs inside on the bottom. It is a great size for my counter and looks absolutely fantastic. Vintage look, but modern, too.A couple days ago I baked a loaf of bread and decided to experiment by putting it in the Wesco without any wrapping. (No bag, etc.) Well,2 days later the bread is not stale, it is still perfect. Even the cut edge hasn't dried out. It really seems like magic! I also have room for a package of English muffins and some rolls.This thing is so well made and so awesome I know it will last a lifetime. LOVE it.My only quibble is that the domed lid means that in order to open it, you have to pull it out from the wall. But since that domed lid means you can fit so much more stuff, it is worth the minor inconvenience.

We don't eat bread all that much but when we do, this bread bin is perfect at keeping our bread moist and delicious for a long while. Bread bins definitely work at keeping bread and other pastry items from becoming stale too soon. It is also convenient for hiding items that would otherwise clutter counter top space. The bin is large, attractive, heavy duty and well crafted in it's fit & finish. I was looking for a retro style box and while expensive, the German manufactured quality of it's construction was worth the investment.

Gorgeous bread box-- just as lovely and sleek as the picture implies. It came with the official product pamphlet and Wesco cardboard box (packaged within a sturdy Amazon shipping box), so I felt just as pleased as if I had bought it from a fancy store. I keep all my bread products in there-- homemade bread, hamburger buns, cookies. I take store-bought breads out of their plastic bags and keep them fresh in this lovely bread box. The sleek shiny surface makes this really easy to clean, and the bread box feels heavy and substantial (not cheap or rickety). My only complaint is that the lid only opens to a (roughly) 75-degree angle, so it doesn't stay open on its own. But it never poses a problem-- it's easy to operate one-handed. I am very pleased with this purchase! The price is a bit high, but this beautiful piece of German craftsmanship is worth it!

I love this breadbox. It is sturdy and holds a lot! Right now there is a loaf of bread, 6 naans ,5 bagels and a part of a loaf of cinnamon swirl bread in there. I do wish the lid would raise high enough to stay open on its own, but other than that, it’s the best I’ve had!

Gotta love a product that works as well as it looks. The Wesco bread box is big enough to hold a loaf of bread and then some. We used to have various bags of bread, rolls, and other carbs piled on the counter top and it always looked the aftermath of the lunch rush at the deli counter. The Wesco bread box conveniently corralled all of that and fits beautifully with the farmhouse decor. A couple of other nice features: the lid stays up freeing both hands and when you close the lid, it doesn't clank like a thin piece of tin (there are little plastic bumpers strategically placed so the lid closes firmly and snuggly), and the enamel coating is gorgeous and glossy. While this is a bigger box, great for a family, they make a smaller one for a twosome or single person. It's tall enough for homemade bread and almost long enough for a baguette (cut the rock hard top off and voila, it fits). And yes, everything stays nice and fresh in the box.

I have had our Wesco Grandy Bread Box for a couple of weeks now. I bake a lot of our bread and this box is big enough to hold my typical 2 lb. loaf, plus a package of bagels, a loaf of my pumpkin chocolate chip bread, and a smaller size baguette loaf. It looks so much nicer than a stack of bread items in plastic bags just sitting on the counter, keeps everything out of sight and blends in with my cabinets and appliances! Plus just for the fun of it, I put large googley eyes on ours and my son named our bread box Bob. The kids just love it! Oh, and yes it does a great job of keeping our bread fresh, although I do still keep most of our bread items in some sort of bag since it gets humid where we live and bread items tend to mold in a matter of days even in bags. But for the two weeks we've had the bread box, the items in it seem to not mold quite as quickly and the bread box is a nice heavy weight so it doesn't seem like it will dent or move around on the counter. It stays put and can with stand the constant banging as my kids open and close it and trust me they aren't super gentle about it. I am very happy with this bread box and glad I added Bob to our family. :)

Wow. Where do I begin. 1st, I ordered a pink 2lb bread box. I received a yellow cookie tin in a box labeled pink bread box.WTF? 2nd, the tin is Made in China (engineered in Germany), not MADE in Germany, as it alludes in the description. 3rd, I paid $102 for this??!!! Unhappy.

I never thought I would say I love a breadbox , but I do ... I am a neat freak and I love my bread and bakery items in one place , THIS IS THE ONE , forget ceramic or wood , I have had them all ... one reviewer stated the lid does not stay open on it’s on, YES it does, it arrived packaged extremely well , no dents , no marks , the hinges are so sturdy , looks like they will last a lifetime , I would advise this size, the smaller size is too small IMO , and this lime green color is beautiful , the finish is so awesome, I’m sure some other colors will suit you , if this does not fit with your decor ... I loooove this breadbox ! You will be happy !

Unfortunately this arrived dented so was sent back. The pink is the same as the Smeg pink unlike some other pink kitchen accessories. This one was a present but before we went low carb and stopped eating bread I had a red version. I used it for ten years and it still looked brand new. Now that one has been passed on to someone else and she assures me it still does another four years on. So Wesco are pricey but they last.

Tal como dice, muy robusto y un poco pesado. Cumple bien su función, mantiene bien los panes. La tapa aunque un poco pesada se mantiene abierta cuando la levantas. Es muy amplia tanto de alto como de largo, lo recomiendo.

Muy bonita y buenos materiales. Se nota de calidad y funcional, ojo, pesa.
