LED Lenser do make reliable, compact, bright, sturdy LED torches - or flashlights, if you’re ‘Merkin - and they make several single-cell small lights that slide smoothly into the side pocket of several multitool pouches (Leatherman), which, with a spare battery or compact fire steel on the other side, makes the ideal EDC toolkit. The one warning that I must give with quality lights like these is that the ONLY batteries that WILL NOT LEAK and ruin the inside with corrosive electrolyte are Energizer Lithium AA and AAA cells…

I really like LED-Lenser's torches, and I bought this as an EDC replacement for an older LED torch.Initial impressions are great - it feels as well made as all of Lenser's other torches, and feels nice in the hand; the button action is solid, and the three light levels are well-judged. It's almost perfect. Almost...The flaw that makes it largely useless is the battery. This is a tiny AAA-size lithium-ion rechargeable, and the charging circuitry is built into the battery itself; you remove the battery from the torch and plug a microUSB lead straight into the battery. First off, while convenient, this wastes a lot of space inside the battery itself - the space used for the socket, charging electronics and indicator LED would have added another 15-20% to the battery capacity.The capacity is the main issue, or more accurately, the life of the battery. Once charged fully, the battery will completely discharge, even if the torch is never turned on, in three or four weeks. If you use the torch all the time and therefore have to charge it every week or so, this won't be a problem, but for a torch you only use occasionally, it's hopeless - you leave the torch in a glovebox or toolkit for a couple of weeks, and when you come to use it, it's usually dead.What is even more annoying is that while the battery is exactly the same size and shape as a standard AAA, you can't just pull it out if it is dead and pop in an AAA to keep you going in an emergency - the Li-Ion battery is 3.7V, and a 1.5V AAA won't even get a glimmer from the LED.If Lenser sort out the battery for one which is charged externally and doesn't have this massive self-discharge rate, this would be a great little light. But as it is, it is next to useless.

I liked the small size and bright beam. I bought two to replace the Mini Maglights I've had for many years. I used them for wild camping inside the tent when a discrete light was preferred. I found the Ledlenser P2R Core torches slippery (even with the annoying clip; which can be removed), hard to turn on and off, difficult to regulate (adjust brightness) but the thing which broke it for me was the torch battery was duff and lost its charge very quickly. Perhaps I was unlucky but when I considered the other features I disliked then I just had enough and sent them back. I have a number of Ledlenser products which I rate very highly but not in this case.

Don't buy it. If you did buy it, don't throw out the battery, it's not a standard AAA despite looking exactly like one. It's actually a 3.7V USB rechargeable, and if you don't notice this and do happen to throw it away, LED Lenser will try to charge you more than the cost of the torch to replace it. Which is why this is the last LED Lenser torch I will every buy. Such a stupid design - and business - decision.

Nie rozumiem dlaczego ta latarka ma tak dobre oceny. Niektorzy uzytkownicy, co zauwazylem dopiero po zakupie, zwracaja uwage na bezsensowne rozwiazanie jesli chodzi o baterie AAA. Nie moga byc uzyte zamiast akumulatora, ktory jest dostarczony z latarka.EDIT:Poczatkowo dalem ocene 2 gwiazdki. Uzywalem jednak latarke z miesiac i bardzo mi sie spodobala. Nawet z ta glupia bateria. Dodam, ze wlasnie kupilem druga... Raz mialem z nia problem, bo sie rozladowala gdy nosilem ja w kieszeni. Wtedy pokazala sie wlasnie ze zlej strony, nie mozna bylo na szybko wrzucic swiezego "paluszka". Natomiast latarka jest tak poreczna i dobra, ze moge jej to wybaczyc. Drugi raz mnie nie zaskoczyla. Natomiast jak ktos napisal w innej recenzji - to dobra latarka, gdy sie ja czesto uzywa. Wtedy tez latwiej pamietac o jej ladowaniu. Natomiast jesli chodzi o okazyjne uzywanie latarki, mysle, ze nie jest to dobry wybor. Dlatego jest ona mala i poreczna, zeby byla zawsze z nami.

★★★★★ 【P2R Core】v.01 (2020) ： 1×Li-ion 10440 (3.7V)ふつうの（？）Li-ion 10440 充電池タイプのLED LENSER P3Rと一緒に購入。商品画像では先細に見えるかんじですが、実物はヘッドからテールキャップまで ɸ15.5mm のストレート。また、商品説明で全長 103mm とあるのはヘッドをひねって伸ばしたときの長さで、完全に縮めた状態では 99mm でした （伸ばすとスポット、縮めるとワイド）。およその寸法で ɸ15×100mm なので、マグライト ソリテール(ɸ13×81mm、1×AAA) よりもひとまわり大きく、だいたい単三形乾電池 (ɸ14.5×50.5mm) を縦に２本ならべたぐらいの大きさということになります。テールスイッチは半押しで間欠点灯、クリックするまで押し込むと連続点灯。切り替えパターンは Low: 15lm → Mid: 50lm → High: 120lm の順。説明書の図解では３秒以内なら切り替え、３秒以上経ってからなら消灯して次は Low に戻るというかんじでしたが、5～10秒ぐらいまでモードメモリーが効くようです。じっさいの運用では、半押しを連続して明るさを選んでから、そのままクリックするまで押し込んでやるという使い方になります。半押し・クリックともに、ほどよい重さだとおもいます。ポケットやカバンの中で勝手に点灯してしまうことはなさそうなので、EDC (Every Day Carry) 向けのライトとして良い仕様だとおもいます （※ P3R は弱めの半押しでも点くので誤点灯の可能性がありそうだった）。一発目が Low なので、暗いところでいきなり目がつぶれることもなく使いやすくはありますが、Low (15lm) でも暗いところで手元を確認したり文字や図面を読んだりするには光量が強めでけっこう眩しいです （ヘッドバンドに装着して軽作業をするには丁度いいかもしれない）。なお、P2R Core、P3R ともに、テールキャップを緩めてのロックアウト機能はありません。LED の配色は自然光に近い白さで、やや黄色っぽさが感じられます。ワイド側での照射パターンは、周辺光が少なく、かつ、芯もなく、わりとクッキリとした輪郭のキレイな円形 （輪郭のエッジ部分の明るさがやや強い）。スポット側では真円形でない中心光とバランスの良い周辺光の二重の同心円と、さらに外側に広くダラダラと漏れたかんじになります。フォーカス調整の中間部分では中心が暗めになるので、ワイド端かスポット端のどちらかでしか使いたくないかんじなのですが、ひねり代が１周半あるのでちょっと面倒…。High や Mid で点灯できなくなった時点で充電池の端子電圧が 3.05V でしたので、過放電を防ぐ意味で High や Mid で点灯できなくなったらスッパリあきらめて再充電・電池交換してやるのがよさそうです。P2R Core 専用充電池の仕様は、Li-ion 3.7V 200mAh 0.74Wh、micro USB-B 入力部に記載されている要求電力は 5V / 1A、サイズは最大部で ɸ10.7×44.4mm。※ P3R 付属の LED LENSER 純正 Li-ion 10440 型充電池（3.7V 320mAh, 型番 7701）は、全長が長いうえに正極側のクビレの上がやや太く、サイズが最大部で ɸ11.2×48.0mm あり、P2R Core には入れることもできませんでした。なお、P2R Core と P3R いずれも、PKCell の ICR10440(コバルト系 Li-ion 3.7V 公称容量 350mAh、最大サイズ･実測 ɸ10.6×44.7mm) が問題なく使えました。P2R Core での場合、付属充電池よりも容量が大幅に増えて、High で連続点灯させたときのランタイムが１時間ぐらいまで伸びます （30分弱経過で本来の Mid モード以下の明るさ、40分経過ぐらいで Low モード以下まで落ちこみましたが）。※ 一般の Lo-ion 10440 充電池は P2R Core 付属の micro USB サイズのペンライトでハイパワーLED搭載の後継モデルはリチウムイオン充電池仕様のP4R Core(15 / 60 / 200lm) かP4R Work(15 / 70 / 170lm) しかなくなってしまうとのことだったので、先年 P4X をあわてて購入してしまいましたが、遅まきながら単四型乾電池×２本で max 120lm のハイパワーLEDの後継モデルもちゃんと出してくれましたね。あらかじめレッドレンザー公式HPからダウンロードした説明書（Duick User Guides）の図解で単四型ニッケル水素充電地も使用可となっていたので P4 Core も買ってみました。　→　過放電対策されていなかった...商品写真とのちがいとして、胴体のブロックパターンの四角形ひとつひとつが大きくてちょっとカッコ悪いかんじです。P4X との相違点• クリップの位置がテール寄りになった→ フラップ付きの胸ポケットにしまったさいにフラップと干渉しづらくなりました。クリップより下の長さが 117mm から 133mm に増えた分、ポケットの底に干渉しやすくなっっています。懐(ふところ)の内ポケットに収めるさいにもデメリットになるかもしれません。• LED の配色が青白っぽくて、P4X よりも若干暗い (個体差かもしれませんが)→ おおむね自然光に近い白さだった P2R Core や P4X よりも演色性が劣り、足場の悪い状況での凹凸の立体感などが見づらくなってます。前方の障害物もやや見えづらいので、自転車用のライトとしては不向きかもしれません。• P4X では２段階（Low 10lm / High 120lm）だった照度の切り替えが P4 Core では３段階（Low 15lm / Mid 60lm / High 120lm）になった→ 足場のよい暗所などで足元を照らすときなど High の最大光量が必要ない状況では Mid で点灯するほうがムダがなくてイイ感じです。• High モードでの【公称ランタイム】が P4X：４時間 から P4 Core：５時間 に伸びた→ 公称ランタイムはアルカリ乾電池で High：５時間とのことですが、これは最大光量の 10％ になるまで（ANSI FL1 規格）のはなしでしかなく、High モードの光量は時間とともにダラダラと下がっていくのでまったく意味がありません。P4 Core の説明書の図解によると単四型アルカリ乾電池だけでなく単四型ニッケル水素充電地も使用可能になっていましたが、P4X でも P4 Core でも Ni-MH 充電池で High モードで点灯させてからシャットダウンするまで点けつづけると過放電（0.9V ×2）になってしまいます。P4 Core に 1.2V・750mAh の単四形 eneloop ×２本をいれて High モードでの連続点灯テストをしてみましたが、２時間強で Mid 相当、３時間半で Low 相当、４時間で Low 以下の明るさまで落ち込みました。その後もなかなかシャットダウンしないようなので６時間経過でテスト終了しましたが、Ni-MH 充電池の残電圧が 0.9V ×2（過放電）。※ Low モード相当まで落ちた３時間半の時点でいちど明滅し、そのまま点きつづけていましたが、消灯させて再点灯させようとしたら Low → Mid → Low → Mid の切り替えしかできなくなっていましたから、多分このあたりのタイミングで充電池を抜かないといけないのかも？カタログスペック上の数字稼ぎはやめて、公称ランタイムの数字が小さくなってもいいから 80％ ぐらいの光量をシャットダウン寸前まで維持する設計にしてほしいところです…。その他、配光・フォーカス特性やスイッチ操作については、P2R Core について書いた内容とほぼ同じ。• ワイド端ではフラットできれいな円形の中心光、スポット端ではそこそこバランスの良い配光。• テールスイッチ半押しで Low → Mid → High → Low → Mid → High ... の切り替え（一発目は Low）。• スイッチの固さもは、半押し・クリックともにほどよい重さで、無用な誤点灯が起きづらくて良い。付属品は、単四型アルカリ乾電池×2本、取扱説明書（英語）、2年保証書（日本語）、7年保証のオンライン登録用カード（日本語あり）。P4X よりも良い点は Mid Diese Lampe ist genial für das EDC (every day carry). Sie ist leicht und robust, schon mehrfach herunter gefallen und keine schäden davon getragen. Die 120 lumen sind mehr wie ausreichend für den alltäglichen gebrauch.Die Lampe lässt sich über mini usb aufladen und zur Not mit einer handelüblichen AAA Batterie betreiben, was ein toller vorteil ist.Der nächste Vorteil ist das es kaum bzw.keine andere Lampe in dieser größe gibt die den lichtstrahl fokusieren kann.Die 7Jahre Garantie,sprechen für sich, LED Lenser ist sich wohl sicher das diese lampe nicht auf normalen weg kaputt geht.Bin begeistert und kann sie nur wärmstens empfehlen für's EDC.
