Hey, it's a toaster - how excited can you get?
Very attractive, like the fact that you can raise the toasted item high enough to retrieve it without risking electrocution. Seems to toast more evenly than my 20 year old toastmaster which finally died. Did a pretty nice job on an english muffin, however you need to be aware of the different settings and heat levels for best results on the variety of items you can toast in it. Bet it doesn't outlive the Toastmaster's lifespan, but still seems like a pretty reasonable price for a stainless clad, good performing toaster.

Decent Toaster
Had a toaster oven forever. It was ok, but took FOREVER to make toast. Wanted to see if this was quicker (it is). Did my research and bought this one. At first was tickled to death with this. It was SO much faster. Perfect. Makes good toast. Has settings for english muffins, bagels and waffles. The english muffins and bagel settings work great. Have not tried the waffle. So far so good. For the not so good. Most of these aren't horrible, but you should know about them. The Single slice setting doesn't appear to do anything. Both sides still come on. Not a big deal. The left side NEVER pops up. It clicks so you know it's done, but the toast doesn't come up. It's easy enough to raise the toast manually, but come on..... Removing a star.

Fast, Even toasting for a reasonable price
You would think after all these years the toaster would be perfected and you could buy any old brand and it would do a pretty good job. Unfortunately that’s not the case. This toaster however does a great job at a reasonable price and is well built. Most toasters suffer from two issues slow toasting and uneven toasting. If there are not enough heating elements in the toaster or it’s not consistently manufactured both of those issues will be a problem. This one solves those issues issues with three solutions. There are plenty of heating elements, they are closely spaced and there is a timing option for single slices that actually turns off one side of the heating elements while the other side finishes. This function is invoked by pressing me single slice button. Particular breads can be very different as far as density and moisture content, even from side to side. Some toasters as I tried had dramatically different results from side to side. This one gets it mostly perfect. You really can’t go wrong at this price point. Purchasing this model will save you a lot of time and aggravation. Again it won’t always be an absolutely perfect toast but with a little experimentation you can get it darn close. There’s no need to pay hundreds of dollars for such a simple appliance. Stay away from displays and automatic lowering and raising mechanisms which always malfunction overtime. This unit should last quite a while

Never really worked right, and now barely works at all
I just looked at the date we bought this, it was about 15 months ago. Within the first few weeks, we realize the so-called single-slice function didn't work. I contacted Cuisinart, and they asked me for a serial number. With ill health in the family, things got too busy, and I never got the toaster and looked for the serial number. We managed to use it without the single-slice function, but then we noticed that the far-right slot always toasted only one side. So if we had to use that slot, we had to be sure to pop up the toast and turn it about half way through. Pretty soon, we noticed both of the right hand side slots didnt toast evenly; both toasted on only one side. So we started using only the slots on the left. That worked for a while, and then that started also toasting only one side. So we started flipping the bread halfway through on that side, as well. We now are unable to calculate what will happen, so we generally have bread toasted on only one side and haven't figured out how to circumvent this. It appears that at least one coil on each side of the toaster doesn't heat. Should a toaster work that badly that quickly? I should have tried to find the serial number and gotten an exchange while I could have. But life gets hectic sometimes. I remember my grandmother had an old G.E. toaster that she had had for several years when I was visiting her. No problem ever with that thing. It was heavy and bulky and solid. She had it and used for 35 more years after that. Just because Cuisinart seemed to have a good reputation, I thought this looked like an idea toaster with lots of settings and functions, toasting 1 side only or both sides, 4 slots, etc. Very disappointing and a waste of money. It's a year later, so maybe it has been improved. But too late for us. Ours will have to be junked. Even the Salvation Army won't want it. What makes it worse is that Cuisinart makes it costly and difficult to use the 3 year warranty. When I called a year ago, I would have had to ship them the toaster at my own expense and make sure it would get there, meaning insuring it. Then it would have cost me out of pocket $10 for them to send me a repaired or new toaster. I'm guessing that would have cost ME almost $20, plus I would have had no toaster at all for that period of time. That is about the worst deal I've heard in many years when it comes to customer service. Considering my time as well as money, I'm better off to just buy a different brand toaster and to avoid Cuisinart products. The warranty is virtually useless.

Best toaster on all settings
This toaster was in the condo we rented on vacation. 4 slice with 2 separate settings. I was so impressed with the muffin, bagel and bread toasting results, I purchased one as soon as we returned home. The settings for bagel and muffins result in how dark or light you want your results without under toasting or burnt results. Use the 10 setting (all the way to the right) for well toasted results. The middle setting (5) results in an average toasting. The 1 setting results in a very light toasting. The instructions on the top of the toaster instruct that the bagel or muffin should be placed in the toaster with the side to be toasted facing the outside wall. My previous toaster did not toast well, even on the highest setting. I would have to push it down again and guess what setting to use to achieve a well toasted muffin or bagel. Despite my efforts I usually end up with an uneven toasted muffin/bagel with burnt edges. Not with this toaster. I am sure you will be happy with the results.

Ehh not the greatest
Not super happy and I've been a Cuisinart fan for years. Had one before this one (same one) and it pooped out after two years. Decided to try again, this toaster works sometimes and other times I have to push down the handle several times bc it keeps popping back up. Very annoying. Nowadays, it's hard to get a good product. Will probably never buy another Cuisinart toaster after this finicky one.
