Does the microphone line work on newer Macbooks with only one minijack input?

No, the PCV 05 is not compatible w/ newer Macs that use the CTIA standard on their headphone jacks, so while you will be able to hear, the mic on your attached headset will not be detected by the Mac, rendering this adapter useless as you could use the headphone pole on the headset to achieve the same thing! Google OMTP vs CITA to see the difference in standards.

Is this compatible with laptops?

Depends on the jack you're plugging it into; the 4 sections of the pole are set up in an OMTP config. so if your laptop jack is OMTP, yes. If your laptop uses CTIA (like new MacBooks) then, no. Google "OMTP vs CTIA" to see what I mean; the microphone & the ground are swapped in the 2 different standards so although the headphone part will always work, the microphone on the headset you plug into the adapter might not be detected by your laptop.It's convoluted, I know! The only way I found out is that I bought them, tried them on a 2015 MacBook Pro and they didn't work! :-(I had to buy an adapter to plug this into that reversed the ground & mic (which I haven't gotten to try yet).

Not sure - does this work well on MacAirs and iPads? how about Galaxy's and Androids?

It does NOT work on the Macbook Pro; requires a USB adapter; my guess is that you would have the same results with the MacAir.I *have* used it on a Galaxy S 3 (Android) without problem; I suspect it would work with other 3.5 mm combined input devices.

Audio is stereo. Use it with my PC363Ds to my PS4 controller and works great. Haven't tried them on my Xbox One yet. Haven't gotten the controller adapter yet.
