Puffin Books A Tale Dark & Grimm

Now I have your attention...I came across this book completely randomly while looking on Amazon for something else, and intrigued by the blurb, I clicked on the 'search inside'. And that was it. I had to buy it. I love stories, but if there's anything I love more than stories, it's MOCKING them. The author has a wonderful sense of humour and the way he addresses the reader and narrates is fabulous. And maybe I'm just a smarty pants, but I love finding out that what everyone knows is wrong. I love reading how things used to be before they were 'edited for children' i.e: edited to make parents feel better.I read the whole thing in one sitting. I so enjoyed the search inside bit, I actually ordered a copy of the complete Grimm's fairytales at the time, so I'm currently reading that now, too. It's not as fun, because it doesn't have someone taking the mickey in it, but I'm still enjoying that immensely too.Also THE MOON EATS PEOPLE.And German IS fun.Buy this thing. Buy it now.

A great twist on a classic tale that kept my kids aged 7 hooked right from the start. Dark and grimm indeed! I loved the way that the book speaks directly to its audience - a nice comic touch!

This is one of a great trilogy of books - telling the true and original Grimm tales.

A funny and clever retelling of a selection of fairy tales

The book arrived quickly and was all that I expected it to be. I would recommend this story to anyone.
