Considering the price and that includes a touch up gun too, this is a real bargain. The larger gun worked great for applying alkyd primer and finish coat on some structural steel for a deck cover. I would say it's about 10 times faster than a brush and it left a great finish with the slower drying top coat I was using. I had to replace an o-ring or two that was squashed and torn from the factory. As others have mentioned, some pipe tape was needed on the paint cup threads to prevent leaking. I think I used about 10 wraps of Teflon pipe tape to make sure it sealed well. I ran my regulator at the air compressor around 75 PSI and while pressing air only on the paint gun I ran about 23 psi on the guns regulator.

(painting a fence)The larger sprayer had a dent near the air inlet upon arrival which leaks air. I have a large air compressor and had to keep it running the whole time to maintain enough PSI to spray the paint.The smaller sprayer was in decent shape and works fine thus far.As other reviews have mentioned, there are no instructions for the knobs on the sprayer so you'll need to do some trial and error to figure out their uses.I'll probably need to buy a new spray gun in a year or so but this does the trick for now

As a novice in the world of painting, I decided to purchase the HLVP Air Gun set. My initial experience with this spray gun was quite positive, as it served as a great learning tool. It enabled me to understand the basics of painting and the functionality of a paint gun without too much hassle.However, I quickly learned that this spray gun set is really only suited for beginners. It is definitely not designed for automotive applications or any paint that needs to be thinned with paint thinner. One significant drawback I experienced was when I soaked the gun and its parts in lacquer thinner or acetone. To my dismay, some parts, including the air flow knob adjustment, melted and crumbled. This was a clear indication that the materials used in this set were not compatible with such solvents.Given this, I would strongly recommend using only water-based paints with this set. I found that it clogs easily, which can be quite frustrating, especially during a painting session.Despite these limitations, my overall satisfaction with the set was quite high when I first started using it. I didn't know any better and had no prior comparisons. It performed adequately for my beginner projects and helped me gain confidence in my painting skills.However, once I tried higher quality brands, I realized the significant differences in performance and durability. The HLVP Air Gun simply couldn't compare. Nonetheless, for a beginner with little experience, this spray gun suffices. It is perfect for learning the ins and outs of a paint gun and getting acquainted with the painting process.In conclusion, if you're just starting out and looking for an affordable option to learn with, this HLVP Air Gun set might be a good starting point. Just remember to stick to water-based paints and be prepared for a few clogs here and there. Once you gain more experience, you may want to invest in a higher quality spray gun for more demanding projects.
