Yes I can hear you now
Just got mine delivered today. I’m so glad that my neighbors can’t hear what I’m listening to on tv any more. It’s so nice to hear my husband clearly without him having to raise his voice to talk to me. I just finished 2 weeks of rehab and because of my not being able to hear well they loaned me there pockettalker while I was there. I cannot use hearing aids because I wear oxygen 24/7 and it makes hearing aids squeal. This is the answer to my hearing problem. I would recommend them to anyone with a hearing disability

Works great but provided headset is not comfortable
The device itself works great but the headset is very uncomfortable. We bought a headset that is higher quality and it was a game changer for my mil.

feedback noise
this device has treble/bass control making it worth the cost

Worthless with plug in microphones
The pocketalker is packaged very nicely and has a slim look. I bought it for my 91yo mother who is hard of hearing. This is worthless with the small plug-in microphone. It picks up absolutely anything and is very loud. Just very, VERY lightly brushing or touching the exterior of the unit is amplified to the extreme and can't be turned down. Think picking up a normal microphone and just barely tapping the voice end with the tip of your finger. Now relate that to touching the unit anywhere with the small mic plugged in and you have the same effect. The built-in microphone is much less sensitive, but it is located on the end of the unit. If the user has it around the neck the mic is pointed down, not out. You have to physically point it at what you want to hear. My mom will still use it, but only to watch TV and it resting on the arm of her recliner. She is afraid to touch it while on. With the headphones resting in her lap, she has to put it on the arm of the recliner and turn it on. She adjusts the volume in between 1 and 2. Then she carefully puts on the headphones. To turn it off she does the reverse. She only tolerates it because it does help with her TV viewing. She will not use it in public. It does the job, but certainly not worth the $200. Pretty disappointed.

Great for non-noisy environments
I bought this for my husband, who is hard of hearing. He uses it to watch television so the volume does not need to be so high. It worked very well. The only issue was when he bumped it or moved it, there was a lot of static that came through, so it is better if you are able to set it down where it will not be disturbed while in use. We would also not recommend using it in an environment where there is a lot of background noise, because it picks up everything. The sound quality is very good. We are looking forward to trying it out in the near future when we go to a few Broadway shows and a play in NYC. We have not used it long enough to know how long the 2 AAA batteries last before needing to be replaced. However, we have rechargeable batteries that we can also use in it, so that is not an issue. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the static that is heard when it is moved, and we thought it was a little pricey. Otherwise, it is a very good product.
