This tool was designed to be used under string tension. There is no need to detune in order to intonate with it. You will have to re-tune when you make adjustments, but that's because the string will have changed length. ROCK ON! -Greg

It does NOT work with the Ibanez Edge Tremolos. I believe your RG has that type.

Yes it will say that but once you actually complete the transaction it won't be there trust me I have done it and if it does just contact Amazon or the company you're buying it from they will refund the money hope this helps

Q: Will it work on a trt-1 floyd rose tremolo?

It will not work on a TRT-1. The fine tuners are angled, and the hook end will not fit over that angle.
