Do you need to push down on the cartridge or does the connector lock it in?

This connector is designed for the original US release of the Nintendo Entertainment System, where you slide the cartridges into the front of the system. You have to push the game all the way into the connector, which will hold it steady, and press down on the cartridge to lock it into the system for the connection to work properly. This particular connector will not be compatible with the NES-101 top-loading system, because of its shape.

Does this product work with the Nintendo 64 console?

I have not tried installing this product into one so not for sure if compatible.
