Good manufactured piece, it looks gorgeous!

I'm a professional bathroom contractor and I've installed this drain for a customer. The one issue with this drain is the plastic drain insert which is inserted into the top of the drain flange. The first time my customer used the shower I got a callback from them advising me the drain was backing up and causing water to to fill the shower floor. Upon inspection I found that the plastic drain insert which seems to be designed to catch hair etc., got clogged the first time used. Other than having very small drain holes it is activated by a spring loaded drain stop. Seems this spring loaded drain stop does not open properly or not at all causing the drain to remain shut. My guess is the spring is simply too strong to depress the drain stop. Solution was to remove this drain stop which opens the drain fully. I see no reason to really have this drain stop. The metal drain assembly itself seems fine, however one of the plastic spacers which are under the tile insert broke during installation. This was repaired and all works fine. I'm giving 4 stars for the overall drain flange as it is at a lower price point than many others. Removing the drain stop does not affect its intended purpose.

This is a a great drain for the price, but it doesn't come with shower drain base. We ended up buying the Dawn SDB060205 Shower Drain Base to pair with this at a cost of about $50. It worked well, but I wish that this item would recommend the other parts that are needed to complete the installation. Overall, good product with lack of information and specifications that are required by many contractors. I'm rating this as three stars because of the lack of specifications and the inability to reach someone at "DreamDrain" for any information regarding the product.
