The frame around the tank is nice and sturdy but I remember the tank being somewhat open. We love ours. It was very difficult finding a plumber who could take on the challenge but once we did and got it installed, we were very happy with it. Because we were working with in such a small space, we had to pack a lot behind that wall (there were electrical wires and outlet boxes, etc. as well as The tank and pipes for the sink) so I would not even attempt to hang anything above my toilet!
