My son was introduced to this series when his second grade teacher read it aloud to the class. My son has loved them ever since even though he is in sixth grade now. I have purchased several of the books in the series for Christmas and birthdays for him. The first book in the series is well worth reading even if you've seen the animated movie. The story is quite different but very entertaining. Mostly, the characters have been kept the same, not the story line. It is well worth the money if it will encourage a child to read.

We actually bought these books (there is a complete series) for our daughter, but now read them ourselves as well. The story is very facinating and you almost cannot stop reading. A little viking boy with his (very small) dragon experiences the most exciting adventures and there is always a fascinating twist to get from one challenge to the next one. Try them!
