PENGUIN Unexpected Lessons in Love

a lovely feel good novel
I love Lucy Dillons books, as a dog lover the fact that all the dogs have characters of their own make the story so much deeper and amusing. I also like the books being set in a small town and that characters from other books slide in and out of the story. Her latest was well up to her usual standard, when life is bit dour they always make me feel better.

Navel-gazing ain't interesting except to the gazer!
Lawks, how I want to like Lucy Dillon's books...I still have a lot of love lingering after Walking Back to Happiness and Lost Dogs and Lonely Hearts...but the newer ones just don't appeal, sadly. I remember being quite excited when Where the Light Gets In was published, getting it, and thinking 'oh'.With this one, to be honest, I didn't get beyond the third chapter, then skimmed to the end. Just no empathy with the protagonist and the endless navel-gazing egocentricity of it all.Still, our local phone-box book exchange will benefit, whenever it re-opens post-Covid 🙂

Love Lucy Dillon's books!
I love the complexity of Lucy Dillon's books. Always emotional and sometimes bittersweet -- this particular story had several intertwining story lines. Lucy's books are a journey of ups and downs. I'm a fan of them all.

Should be on everyone's reading list!
Ordered this book, as I have every other that Lucy has written. Read it in two days and I loved this book just as much as the others, even though I found myself with loads of questions spinning round my head about the future of the characters from the book. Can't wait to read the next one when it's released.

dissapointing
A very promising start to the story but when push came to shove all anyone needs to read is the beginning and the end, the middle was padding.
