Not impressed with this flapper valve replacement.
The scenario: A toilet running every 20'ish minutes due to a leaking flapper valve. Have replaced 3 times with replacements from the local big box store that lasted no more the 6-9 months. This particular toilet sees high usage for a residential toilet. We do not have hard water. The mark:I am not a pro at toilet tank repair, but I'm definitely no stranger to it either. I've successfully repaired probably 20 toilet tanks over the last 15 years. The execution:First off the instructions indicate that you have to completely dry the valve seat prior to installing the adhesive ring. So I said to myself, that's going to be a pain in the butt. I decided to first try installing the new flapper valve on the old valve seat, but the new valve hinge slots are made so that when they engage the old hinge pins the angle of the valve does not match the angle of the seat. I then soaked up every drop of water I could from the tank and let the whole thing air dry for 48 hours to give myself a fighting chance of getting the adhesive ring to stick. After letting the valve seat dry for 48 hours, I just followed the rest of the installation instructions and the install seemed to go as expected. Fast forward two months, the adhesive ring now leaks and I'm back exactly where I was before using this product, a toilet running every 20 minutes.

Fixed our vintage toilet!
We have one bathroom in our house that is vintage and we wasted money and time trying to fix the toilet. This fixed it however we did have to use a different adhesive to get it to stay put. The "putty" included seemed to work well at first but quickly proved it would not stay put over time. That being said, by using another adhesive this perfectly fixed our vintage toilet! Flushes perfectly, does not leak at all.

Not a fan of this product. the ridged plastic body of this flapper did not work for my toilet. I went with a universal model that worked great.

Great item.
Worked great, cut out brass rod system of really old toilet, installed on the rim of flapper outlet, used extra silicone, they are working great. Problem solved.

Say Goodbye to High Water Bills!
Water in my county is pretty affordable. Quite suddenly we had a steep increase in our monthly bill and I was horrified by the outrageous amount we were spending. The county came out to inspect the meter at my request and deemed it functional. I could not find any leaks throughout the house. I was going nuts trying to get the issue sorted out and could not believe that even though our oldest children have moved out and I was no longer washing diapers daily, our water bill was three times the amount compared to a year earlier.I did not discover the issue until we had a house guest over for a few nights and he shared with us that the toilet in the scarcely used guest bathroom was constantly running. Somehow, I overlooked that previously but since it is connected to the guest bedroom, he confided that it was actually keeping him up at night!I did some googling and quickly found out that such a problem could lead to significantly higher water bills! I debated about calling a plumber for what seemed like an easy fix. Decided to try and save a few bucks and change out the flapper myself. I ordered this flapper and another water saving version, also from Plumb Craft, as a back up - just in case I really screwed things up!I watched a 2-minute instructional video on You Tube as a primer. I found this replacement kit to be very well constructed and more than suitable for the job. I saw some cheaper versions online but I would really prefer to have a part that lasts 20+ years as opposed to having to switch it out in 2-3 years and I think this fits the bill.Following the instructions included, combined with what I learned from You Tube, I had this baby in my American Standard in less than 20 minutes, start to finish. We have not gone through a full billing cycle yet but I will update once we have. The toilet is no longer running - YEAH - and I owe it to Plumb Craft!I am pretty excited anticipating some monetary relief!I received this product at a discounted rate for my unbiased review. I heavily rely on consumer reviews when making purchases online and know that others rely on an honest assessment. Therefore, I understand the value of being objective when reviewing a product and sincerely hope that others find my input valuable.
