Tex Avery Screwball Classics Volume 1

If there's some person you know who actually asks the question "who is Tex Avery", just show that person this bluray. You'll both be glad you did.

At long last we get the cartoon Holy Grail. We have waited way too long for a U.S. release of the Tex Avery cartoons. It's too bad it's not a complete box set of all his work like the French box set. But hopefully the sales from this will help to get out the rest. Restored and remastered, I'm sure these are going to be absolutely beautiful. I actually bought a blue ray player just for this release. Can't wait to have it.Edit: Got it out of the mailbox before work today and just couldn't wait to see it. This is how these masterpieces are meant to be seen. In vivid full color and detail. This is a far cry from the dull, often scratchy tv prints that I saw as a child back in the 1970's that the French box set is likely sourced from. The restoration is beautiful and i know this is the way the films looked on the big screen so many years ago. I surely hope the sales from this release will bring forth the rest of the Tex Avery catalog. Maybe we can now wish for a release of the MGM one shots, and the rest of the Looney Tunes/Merry Melodies and the Happy Harmonies.2nd Edit: Could all the people who are complaining and giving one star ratings to this project because it is released only on Blu Ray please consider this. It seems we are lucky that the project even came to fruition. DVD is about to go the way of the cassette and Blu Ray probably will too, since now it's all about streaming services. A Blu Ray player costs no more than a DVD player, and can play your DVDs too. I bought a Blu Ray player specifically so I can enjoy this . Why can't the negative people do the same? And this is the 2nd time I went the extra mile for Tex Avery cartoons because a few years ago I bought a region free DVD player specifically because I bought the Tex Avery French box set. A true fan and collector should have no problem with doing this. Just saying.

Was very happy when my copy of this release finally arrived. I had been hoping for a Blu-ray release of Tex Avery cartoons for a long time. This was worth the wait.The cartoons themselves are great. When Tex moved from Warner Bros to MGM in 1941, he brought speed and fluidity to animation that hadn't been seen before. it's like all the stops were pulled out and no holds were barred.The humor works so well, even today almost 80 years later. I think the key is that Tex didn't have kids in mind when making these shorts. He even stated so in an interview near the end of his life. not to say that these cartoons are Adults Only. Kids can enjoy too. But much was aimed at the grownups.The 19 cartoons in this collection cover a variety of characters from one-shot characters to frequently appearing characters like Screwball Squirrel and Droopy. There are only 4 Droopy cartoons, but there will hopefully be more releases.The restoration on these cartoons is top notch. There isn't a fleck or scratch to be seen. Beautiful color and sound.This is a bare bones release with no special features, but that's ok. There is also the typical Warner brothers disclaimer about how these cartoons are a "product of their time" and may be irreverent or offensive to some, but if you just keep that in mind and enjoy what you see, you'll be fine.This is just the tip of the iceberg. if you have any affinity for Golden Age Era animation, please purchase this volume. It will hopefully prompt Warner Studios to release more of the works of the great Tex Avery.

Legendary cartoon artist Tex Avery, who cut his teeth on Warner Brothers' Looney Tunes, eventually moved on over to MGM where he gave the world Droopy Dog, Red Hot Riding Hood, The Big Bad Wolf, and Screwy Squirrel, among others. These are some of the funniest cartoons ever produced but it's been difficult to find them on DVD/Blu-Ray until now. (With the exception of a limited production of a Droopy collection) The main reason is two-fold. 1: His cartoons have more adult jokes. Both the violence and sexual innuendo are stronger than the typical Golden Age Looney Tunes cartoon. 2: Some of the cartoons, like the Looney Tunes, contain racial stereotypes that wouldn't make it today. Because of that combination, there has been a resistance to releasing these cartoons. Thankfully, a high demand by historians and cartoon fans alike have made it possible and the collection does not disappoint. The best cartoons are assembled and every one is a gem. Well worth the wait.

I love these old MGM cartoons, but there were quite a few duds on this disc that were boring and skipped past. Was hoping for more Droopy or Screwey squirrel cartoons, but I guess that's how they get you to buy the other volumes. It's still worth having in the collection though.

Very glad Warner Bros decided to bring these to underrated cartoons to Blu-Ray.I remember watching these old Tex Avery and MGM cartoons on Boomerang (Back in the good old days when they used to show old school Hanna Barbera, Tom and Jerry, and Looney Tunes cartoons before they changed their content in the start of 2015) and it brings back nostalgic memories.I wish they made new cartoons shows that are based like Tex Avery style instead of worthless unwatchable junk what’s on Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network, and Disney Channel.Great cartoons and they look wonderful on Blu-Ray.Very happy to get these for my collection.

Hands down, some of the funniest pieces of classic animation of the Golden Age, Tex Avery was one of a kind, a true genius! If you like Tex Avery, then you'll love this collection. I'm happy to say that it works like a treat on my PS5, so that's made it better as I didn't have to panic about picking up a multi region Blu Ray player.Though it has no special features of commentary, only subtitles, it's still a joy to watch this uncut and restored to it's beauty, I never laughed so much in my life, the gags, jokes, stories, everything is guaranteed to make you laugh.PLEASE REMEMBER: These cartoons were a product of their time, so watch with caution.With that being said, do yourselves a favor and go pick up a copy of this masterpiece collection. It'll brighten anyone's day when in the mood for some cartoon classics.

I grew up watching these great classic cartoons & I love them back then & I love them now & I hope they release all of Tex Avery cartoons because they are very important cartoons that need to be preserved in the original state & need to be Not Censored!!! & watch by fans of the great classic cartoons so I am talking to u Warner Brothers, Universal Pictures, Paramount Pictures, Walt Disney Pictures, 20th Century Fox Studios, Sony Pictures, & any other major or Independent film studios that I did not mention to STOP!!! making decisions on what I should watch or should not watch I think at my age 60 years old I think I am big boy to figure it out!!! if u want to warn people about what they are watching or listening to then put warning stickers. that's all u need to do!!!!

このシリーズは3巻まで出ていて3本買えばTex AveryのMGM時代の短編の大部分は手に入るが、入ってない作品もある。人気作のウルトラ子がも（LACKY DUCKY）やドルーピーの最優秀ボーイスカウト（droopy’s GOOD DEED）やデカ吉チビ助のニワトリ狩り（HENPECKED HOBOES）などが入ってない。どれも差別表現がカットされているバージョンは過去のDVDに収録されていたのでその辺の事情で収録されなかったのだろう。カット版を収録するくらいなら最初から収録しない方がマシという考えかもしれない。しかしTex Averyのソフトを買って代表作の１本であるウルトラ子がもが入って無いのは痛すぎる。Blu-rayなので画質が良いのと英語字幕で台詞がわかるのは良い点だが。ちなみにデカ吉チビ助のアフリカ探検（HALF-PINT PYGMY）は5枚組のフランス盤にすら入ってない。2巻には特典映像でドキュメンタリーが収録されている。3巻の特典映像はワーナー時代の短編が１本。

The man who inspired HB produces some of the most classic cartoons, these are timeless classics worth the purchase a must for those who enjoy the classics.

I remember these as a kid.This collection is a must have for all Tex Avery fans.Clean remastered frames in superb Blu-ray quality.Un-cut gags.Hope there will be more volume's coming.
