Smells so fresh and natural
The best clothes conditioner I’ve ever used, smells incredible, like a cedar forest. I get lots of compliments on its smell and now have inspired many others to get this too. It leaves my washing so soft, plus all its sustainability credentials and natural ingredients tick all the boxes.

A pleasant fragrance but it comes at a price...
This basil and Mandarin fabric conditioner comes in an aluminium bottle with a sealed lid. Everything is great for the environment down to the aluminium bottle and even the label is compostable. The fragrance smells very much like a citrus smell with a slight hint of something else that I can’t quite put my finger on. My wife described it as a car shampoo smell, and I tend to agree with her. It’s a nice smell, not unpleasant, just a little strange as we’re used to the floral smells of regular fabric softener, and this is definitely not floral. When using it, I put in two capfuls for a medium sized wash and used a mixed load wash which lasts for a little over an hour. When finished, I couldn’t smell the fabric conditioner at all and could only smell my detergent. My next wash, I put in four capfuls, and I could smell it then when it came out of the washing machine. After hanging on the line outside to dry and bringing the clothes back in, I could smell the softener on the dry clothes, so it seems to perform better with 4 capfuls. The softness of my clothes felt about the same as my usual conditioner, but I only used half of the amount I usually do with this one. I may try 3 capfuls next time to see how far it goes but 2 capfuls didn’t give me the fragrance.Using two capfuls is enough to get your clothes soft, but you won’t get any fragrance from them, but with 4 capfuls it seemed to be the right balance as I could then smell the fragrance like you should do. This is a very expensive fabric softener and for it to be competitive, you need to use less than you usually do with your standard softener. I’m currently using half the amount with this one so it’s not very cost effective if you’re after a softener that lasts longer for the same amount of money. If you care more about the environment, and don’t mind paying more, then this is ideal. The fragrance is quite pleasant and is different from the usual floral types you get. I really like this softener, but it is expensive…

Amazing scent, a little goes a long way
Smells wonderful. Beautiful, practical packaging. Scent doesn't last in the tumble dryer. Would definitely buy again

Seems to work well, but...
Has a number of eco-friendly credentials - recyclable metal container as well as in the contents. Directions indicate using between ½ and 1½ capfuls in a load depending on size - the cap is tiny (6ml, i.e. not much more than a teaspoon), and you wouldn't expect so little to have an effect. I added slightly less than a capful (it's not that easy to measure out into such a small cap from such a large bottle) to a load with two large bath towels. The effects are quite impressive - I genuinely never thought it would work so well with so little - however it does not impart any noticeable scent to the washing. A sterner test will no doubt come when it gets warm enough to do the drying outside rather than in the tumble dryer, where such items tend to dry somewhat stiffly, and I suspect it will probably then become necessary to use more than the recommended dosage. The claim here is for a whopping 118 washes from the 1 litre bottle, which you would certainly be able to achieve with 1½ capfuls, but I suspect that for this reason it will turn out to be significantly less. One thing I would really like to know though: the product page here says that it should not be used on sportswear; however with the bottle there is a card with instructions, which quite clearly states that you can use it with sportswear. So which is it, guys? Can we have a definitive and clear answer to what we can use this with and what we can't use it with, please?
