I have a top-loading washer. It has a setting to "clean washer with Affresh." I started to notice that if I use the washer for a long time, even leaving the top open between uses, eventually I would smell an odor. In fact, I thought I noticed it in a wet load of dark clothes at one point. I purchased these and ran the clean setting. I believe you can use these without the "clean" setting as well. They definitely work. There are instructions in the box that say, for best results, to clean twice a month. I bought the 24-tablet supply. I just use them on the 1st of the month every month because that's what I can remember to do. The box isn't great for storage because I leave it on top of my messy dryer. It doesn't close well, so the tablets spill out all over the place. I think it would be helpful if the box had a tab to keep it closed or some kind of latch. That's the only reason I gave it four stars; it just adds to the mess of my laundry area.

I have been using these tablets for my top loading HE washer. They do remove residue and dirt effectively. I recommend wiping down after the cycle completes. Does a nice job and helps eliminate smells that get left in the tub especially if the water doesnt completly empty after the spin cycle as in larger heavier loads.
