Q: Is the black version painted or naturally/chemically oxidizes to black?

The filtered water does not pass through the black part of the outside, so you do not need to worry about the effect of the black part on the water quality. Q: What size is the threaded faucet stem? I am wanting attache directly to 3/8" supply line. I'm not interested in a crappy plastic snap-on adapter.
