Chef Craft Select Can Opener with Tapper, 6.5 inches in length, Nickle Plated

I bought this tool after watching a Youtube video by the "Crazy Russian Dad" showing how he used to open cans back in his old country. I purchased this tool for educational purposes to show my Scout how to use can openers of many different styles and configurations. One never knows where one will be on a trip, and what tools or utensils might be available. This tool is sharp, and easily punctures cans, but takes a bit of learning for those used to the more modern style of can opener. To me this one is appealing as there is a level of difficulty and danger inherent in its operation. It also takes a bit of manual dexterity. It is not a tool for the careless or clumsy. I also like that it also functions a a cork screw, is inexpensive, and is made of stainless steel. It is VERY easy to keep clean. Plus there are no moving parts, simplicity at its best.

Finally a can opener that works. I have purchased many can openers and they stop working after using 3-4 times but this one has lasted the longest. I had never used this type of can opener so I had to watch a youtube tutorial but after watching it once it was super easy to use!

No more kitchen aid or such. They stop working in a matter of weeks. Thisnis old school coming back. Just get it. It works perfectly.

Good quality, easy to use

It was easier to use than many are, and I like the steel construction, but it just doesn't seem very effective. The lid comes off all jagged and sometimes gets stuck in the can. The teeth slip, so you can be turning it, but nothing happens.I got a face full of enchilada sauce popping the lid out after it got lodged in the can, so that was less than fun.I got the one with the can tapper, so maybe the other variations are better.Ultimately, I'm pretty disappointed.The only reason I'm giving it as good a rating as I am is because it was cheap and seems sturdy.

I got this as a backup/ travel can opener and if you've never had a can opener that's as basic as this. You would appreciate the much better can openers you have at home. Actually am downgrading heavily from an electric can opener to this one and this one does what it says it does with a lot of muscle and effort. Get ready to work. If you haven't used the manual can open air for a while. That's it. This does a pretty good job opening a can and I brought a magnet along just to keep the lids from falling into the sauce. Overall, I'm really happy with the finish cost and their ability of this can over there. So no complaints for me so far
