Would these shoes be good for light hikes? I'm traveling Europe soon and I am looking at these to look casual and also do light hiking.

These were the shoes I purchased EXACTLY for the same purpose as you. They are great for hiking and for when you need nice looking shoes! They last forever and were amazing!!!!

can anyone tell me how to get the sticky stuff from the disintegrating soles out of the carpet?

ECCO had a sole issue years ago and not with this type of shoe. I have owned many pair of track 2's over the years and currently have an (older) outdoor pair, a black pair, a real nice pair, a daily shoe, and indoor work pair and a brand new pair in the box in the closet. I had Plantar Fasciitis, it went away in two weeks, and I never went back.

Need us size 12.5, should i do eur size 47 or 46?

I'm a 13 and got the 47's. They felt tight initially but stretched out nicely with use. Great shoes. Daily wearer for 6mo and still looking great.
