Older Vw with rubber seal. Thanks** A: Not sure on VW, but I used this on a classic Mustang between gasket and car windshield frame ONLY. I used urethane between glass and gasket, NOT this (08509). This will NOT set up and should stay tacky for a long time. I used urethane to make a seal between the glass and gasket. **Q: I need to replace the vapor barrier on my car door, is this suitable for that purpose? I am concerned about any odor associated with it.** A: 3m 8509 is what's recommended to be used for this purpose on older vehicles (my 68 mustang), so i see no reason why it wouldn't be the ideal thing to use with any other year vehicles. the vapor barrier on mine is wax paper (if that matters).. **Q: What is the minimum temperature to process this kit?** A: I used it on a beautiful summer day, so I cannot help beyond telling you I used it to seal around the windshield on my 1966 Mustang. I just went out into my 30-degree garage and I can still make fingernail marks in it. This 3m product is non hardening and can be cleaned off with mineral spirits without hurting your paint. If your initial installation still leaves leaks, you can peel back the rubber and squeeze more in (both inside and out). As a final measure you fill in the Crack where the stainless meets the body.
