Icky and messy, and works great
used this stuff under the "bead lock" type of auto glass rubber, as a extra measure of protection against leaks.....chevy's never leak and rust out the window channel.... :(a lot of rust repair, sanding, 3 layers of por 15, then this gunk before the window seal...never will leak again for many moons...be careful, this stuff is messy, uses glovesdoens't really harden, just stays "icky" and sticky

Stops windshield leaks.
1960's fords, maybe other manufacturers, used a rubber gasket with this bedding compound to seal against leaks. This 3m product is non hardening and can be cleaned off with mineral spirits without hurting your paint. If your initial installation still leaves leaks, you can peel back the rubber and squeeze more in (both inside and out). As a final measure you fill in the Crack where the stainless meets the body. Clean up with mineral spirits.

Non hardening sealer.
Great for attaching the water shield on mustang door panels. It is non hardening and will allow removal in the future.

Great product for sealing auto glass
I use this mainly under rubber gaskets on auto glass. The gaskets seal out the water. This stuff has the property of not drying out, so temperature changes won't affect the sealing. It can be removed with mineral spirits which is a rather good thing since it is messy to apply. It will get everywhere. You can get it on yourself by just looking at.It may be a little stiff in the tube on cold days. Heating the tube to 110-120 F in an electric oven will improve the flow. Be careful around open flames (read this as a gas oven) try not to set your oven on fire. All in all a good sealing product. It is black in color.

Tube busted
About halfway through the job the back of the tube gave way inside my caulk gun, ruining the gun and making me have to scoop the rest out of the bottom with a popsicle stick. It was a total mess and I’m out a perfectly good gun. Otherwise the product was exactly what I needed. I guess I can’t blame the seller either. It was just a very crappy experience.

Good for older, rubber gasket-style glass
This is good for gasket-style glass installation. It is liquid butyl and will NOT set or harden beyond maybe "tacky" and that is after a few months. I believe the reason is older gasket-style glass floats in the frame. The sealant isn't supposed to harden as it allows the glass to float freely in the frame to absorb vibration while also able to seal against water penetration around the gasket. To seal the glass INSIDE the gasket use a polyurethane sealant. That WILL harden but since it is a glass-to-rubber mating it doesn't matter.

Worked well
I used this to install the windshield on my 67 Coronet. Should be as good as what was used 55 years ago. I may use the left over for the door vapor plastic.
