Should have gotten this a long time ago!
2012 Silverado Z71 Crew Cab 5.3LMy new SIlverado seemed to "stutter" a little bit when accelerating. I eventually got used to it, assuming that's the way the new trucks drove. (I previously owned a '03 Silverado) Being an avid Amazon shopper I recently stumbled upon the K&N 63 Series AirCharger. After reading all the reviews and pondering spending about $240 for a few days, I broke down and bought it.SHIPPING:Fast as Always (Prime). The box came undamaged, but there were a lot of loose, tiny pieces of hardware at the bottom of the box (washers, nuts) However, this did not end up causing any problems.INSTALL:I have never really done much mechanic work other than on small Briggs & Stratton engines, but I found the installation to be pretty straight forward. When you remove the stock intake and first see the new K&N, you realize how bulky/ugly the stock intake really is. I used the directions that came with the Intake, as well as a YouTube video during the install. I took a few breaks during the installation, but I would say the complete install took me about 2 1/2 hours. It does require some drilling, but only a little. I found the whole installation process to be relatively easy, yet slightly time consuming.PERFORMANCE:Wow! The new intake looks GREAT. It really "cleans up" under the hood. I couldn't wait to take it for a spin! When at idle, I didn't notice any difference in sound (when sitting in the drivers seat). But, when I took off down the road, I knew I had made a good purchase. Not only does the engine respond quicker when accelerating, but it sounds amazing! It feels like it breathes SO much better, and it has a great "growl" between 30-50 mph. I didn't know my truck could sound like this. I originally bought the intake for improved acceleration (which exceeded my expectations), but the new engine sound was the cherry on top! (its not an annoying sound at all) I love cruising around town with a truck that sounds better, has more power, and might possibly have better fuel economy (haven't tested it yet)OVERALL:If you are considering purchasing this intake, and don't mind spending money on increasing the performance of your vehicle, DO IT!I'm glad I did.

OEM quality product
This is a high quality product. Took me about an hour to install on my 2012 Silverado LT (Z71, 4x4, extended cab with 5.3 L v8). The only drawback is that it required drilling with a 5/8" drill bit in one spot, and my hand drill chuck was too small for that, so I had to fabricate a quick bracket which made my install a little less OEM quality than I'd like. The box uses a couple of factory holes so it is still secure. The tube and filter use the K&N supplied box to create both a cold air box and secure it to the engine bay. I already have a Gibson stainless dual exhaust - this gave it a deeper growl and you really hear it when you get on it. It doesn't drone, and is only a tiny bit louder than the exhaust alone. When I remote start the truck I can hear the deep va-vroom from inside the house. I didn't want a overly loud truck and this meets my expectation. There are claims of improved fuel economy... I just drove the truck on a 600 mile highway trip directly after the install and I achieved maybe 16 mpg. I pretty much get a long term 14.5 mpg no matter what I do, so any mpg gains are not significant and a hwy-only trip is not consistent with the long term mpg. Frankly, I drive more aggressively because it is fun to hear it, so I haven't seen any big mpg increase and for the first half-tank it went down! Lastly, with the exhaust and I take the truck still seems a little uncalibrated in a few spots through the RPM range, which a tuner/programmer might correct. These are minor issues.

Good ole K&N
I don't believe the hype of horsepower gains or better gas mileage. You won't tell the difference on acceleration. The people that say they do are lying. You cannot feel 10hp gains. Anyway, I bought it for the cool noise and plus I needed a replacement filter with toob. I bought my tahoe with a knock filter that didn't fit right.

Can’t go wrong with K&N !!
Intake arrived with the box damaged. At first I was upset. As I unboxed it all I found it was packed very well and was easy to install. I put K&N products on all my vehicles. I have owned 22 in the last 10 years and always K &N is my go to for power and performance upgrades

2011 Suburban LTZ
I am very happy with this product! Very easy install, V8 sounds way better and more aggressive when you get on it. You can tell the difference taking off from the light and passing. Gas mileage I’m not sure yet. Good quality, and it fit perfect
