This is like unwrapping a Christmas present in a giant box and discovering something fun and then consecutively getting to open more and more boxes! I will admit that I am not the most outdoorsy person out there. I love hiking and tent camping and being prepared for what life throws at me. I found this and was able to get it at a discounted price in exchange for my honest review. I will also admit that I did NOT want to unravel the paracord to access all the goodies inside. I knew that once opened, there would be no going back... This is not my first go at a paracord item. I have a paracord bracelet with a flint, whistle etc.. This being a kit and not simply a bracelet, is more complex. It took me a full 5 minutes to figure out how to separate the cord to get at the items inside. Once past the cord, I ruined part of the foil which would be very helpful in a survival situation. I tried to leave the paracord intact. My pictures will show how virtually impossible doing this is. The amount of items in this kit is impressive. My main concern was the flint. A good flint is a necessity when in a survival situation. Once I found it I got to work on getting some sparks. This happened very quickly, whether this is because I have experience with flints or because the flint was of good quality, I do not know. It only took me 3 tries while I got passed the black coating and down to the flint and then large sparks flew. The whistle works wonderfully and the hooks and fishing line are a clever idea for such a pack. Not much you can do with the small gauze pads but if you are in a situation where you would need these, I would hope that you were prepared for more then just a possible scratch. I tried putting everything back into its tight wrapping and reinserting it into the paracord but that was just not going to happen. So I opted for unravelling the paracord. This took about another 4 minutes while I figured out where the ends were. Hint: the whistle. The paracord is strong and durable and I will be putting all of these contents into some sort of small baggie to take along with me in my next adventure.

Nice quality with great compact style. Easy carry clip with whistle and compose on exterior for ease of use. Other supplies secure inside for use only when needed. I hope not to use them but better safe than sorry. Great for any outdoor activities.Note: I received a discount for my honest review.

This is a very well-woven little handy package. And although I did not take this one apart, I can say that it has a nice bit of weight to it, compared to others that I have handled.On the outside, clearly visible, is a compass, carbiner, and an emergency whistle. And I can see a little edge of a plastic bag that protects the goodies inside. The paracord is wrapped so neatly around the entire package that I am afraid to take it apart. The paracord also feels pretty thick and sturdy as well.The card included with the kit recommends not taking it apart unless you need to use it, and includes a list (with images) of what is included...however, I do not see "thermal blanket" listed, like the kit says here on Amazon. So I am not sure if it is, in fact inside, or if it is a simple mistake.Either way, it is an impressive little kit And I feel a bit safer, knowing I have it if a situation occurs, when it is needed.On another note, I did contact the seller and I will say that I received quick responses and they were very civil and appreciative.I received this product for free/at a discount for my honest review, and I do believe that I would by this again, when the need arises.

The whistle on this is very nice. Usually plastic ones like this really require effort to make it work but this one is better quality. This is a very handy and compact kit to have. It can easily clip onto your backpack or fit into one of small storage spots in your backpack if you choose. It comes with everything as stated and the cord is good quality. This is a great addition to anyone's hiking or outdoors gear and takes up very little space. I was given this at a discounted price in exchange for my honest review.
