Cool Bananas ...Cool Tractive
We bought Tractive (£40 ish for Hardware and £6 per month Basic Subscription) to keep track of our Female Puppy/Dog who will be having her first Season over next few months, and also as we are taking off lead for Recall Training. Very happy with the results so far. The Unit goes into Battery Saving mode (updates every 5 mins) when at home but it lasts pretty good...about 10% per day.During Walk, press the button on App and it logs the route in real time....just got to remember to END the Walk otherwise it affects the Stats I guess. The safe zone minimum is a little larger than we anticipated so technically the Dog could escape and we wouldn't know for over 5 mins if it stayed with the large safe Zone around the House Area ie roads. A slight downside, but really the Unit was purchased for walk tracking and off lead operations so not really too worried. The Wellness Tracking is at early stages but looks interesting. Not sure about Sleep tracking when Collar is removed on a night. The Units Base Plate fits onto collar okay with a lot of stretching of rubber... a back up plate would've been good in case the rubber snaps. The Unit then clips onto the Plate with four stretchy rubber clips. Charging up on collar so not needed to remove once in place.Very happy so far.

Simple to use and works as expected
I recently purchased the Tractive GPS Dog Tracker for my dog, and I couldn’t be happier with it. The real-time tracking feature is accurate and gives me peace of mind knowing I can always see where my dog is, even when he’s off-leash. One of my favorite features is the virtual fence, which allows me to set up a designated safe area. If my dog ever leaves this zone, I get an instant notification, ensuring I can act quickly to bring him back. The battery life is another standout feature. Depending on usage, it can last up to seven days, which is perfect for minimizing the hassle of frequent recharging. The tracker is lightweight, durable, and waterproof, so I don’t have to worry about it during outdoor adventures or in bad weather.Overall, the Tractive GPS Dog Tracker has exceeded my expectations with its reliability, ease of use, and thoughtful features. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a dependable way to keep their pet safe and secure.

Very Good, but not perfect.
Had the Tractive Dog 4 for a couple of weeks and so far it does mostly what it says on the tin. But not completely. We live in a rural area and our beagle likes to chase after the scents of hares. So after a recent spell of going missing for over 2 hours (not for the first time), we took the plunge to invest in a tracker.Yesterday, she took off again after a scent or two, and went way out of sight. For about 70-80% of the time she was away, the Tractive gave excellent accuracy (in live mode) as to her position. Luckily on this occasion, I could see her down on low land from my position at the top of the slope. I was able to relax, knowing where she was. However, for some of the time, the Tractive lost gps signal, which was a bit worrying. The unhelpful error message from the app telling me to try again, making sure there is a good signal, was infuriating. How the heck am I supposed to influence the gps signal from the tracker in the middle of a field?!The Tractive is miles and miles better than the Vodafone curve I’d tried previously, which just didn’t work.Tractive appears waterproof as ours has already been dragged through wet, muddy patches and seems none the worse for it.The app is fairly user friendly and has good functionality. If you’re expecting everything to be 100% reliable and instantaneous, then you’ll be disappointed with any tracker, I’d say. If you can tolerate that signals sometimes get lost and it can take a couple of minutes to get them back, then this is a good device. Our dog doesn’t seem to mind wearing the Tractive on her collar and whilst it’s not tiny, it’s shape makes it fairly unobtrusive. The light and the buzzer, at first seem like a great idea, but in practice, I don’t think would be very effective. They can take ages to react to you switching them on and the light is too dim to be of much use and the sound volume is too low to hear from anything but a few metres away. All in all I’m very happy I bought the Tractive, but it’s not perfect.

Takes the stress out of finding my dog!
Literally just put this on my dog today and he ran off chasing a deer while we were playing frisbee. I'd never used the app before but it was very intuitive. The real-time function is excellent and it was reassuring to be able to see where my dog was and predict where he was headed. I managed to track him down within 10 minutes. Perfect. The collar attachment is secure for now, but as it is made from silicone I do wonder if it will last. I feel this should really be attached to the collar via a metal ring or something less flexible. I bought the black one, so it would be less obvious, and he doesn't seem bothered by it (he's a 17.5kg border collie).Overall, I'm very pleased as it took two hours of searching through the woods in the dark to find him last week. It gives me some reassurance to know I'll be able to track him down quickly even his prey drive gets the better of him.
