I have this unit in a very small bedroom, on top of my dresser. It is very effective in eliminating dust, pollen, and odors from the air. It has really helped my seasonal allergies. An added bonus is that it creates a soft, white noise that drowns out the sounds of city traffic. Really helps me to sleep. The filter lasts a very long time; I got about six or eight months from the most recent one, and that included a spring allergy season. I tried changing it after 3 months (which one reviewer said was its life), but the old one looked the same as the new one. This time, after six or eight months, they looked markedly different. The old one was filthy. Nice to know I'm not breathing all that gunk in! This little desktop model is well worth the money. When it dies, I will be very likely to buy another one just like it.

Right product for what I needed.

Instructions are confusing - the filter has a pointing arrow and says "This Side Up", but the unit must be turned upside down in order to replace filter. Does "This Side Up" refer to the filter's position as the unit is upside down (as it's being changed), or to its ultimate position once installed and turned over? Not sure. I researched the Germ Guardian website and several other sites to no avail.

These are "OK" in that they work as expected. The boxes they came in looked they were on a store shelf, or in storage for a very long time - slightly unevenly discolored, and slightly dusty.

Cleans my air of Cat hair, dust, smoke and unwanted ectoplasm that builds up in my older apartment. Sadly, I don't think this works as well as the Proton Pack Mark 1, but I can defiantly recommend for anyone who wants to cut down on the amount of dust.

I have small rooms and it does very well what it is designed for. I actually keep it across the room in front of the AC and it keeps the room fresh. I use a small GermGuardian which I can move from room to room as for me it is more economical and effective.
