Rating: ★★★★☆Unique 413-1 RV Digest-It Holding Tank Treatment might be discontinued, but if you can still find it, it is definitely worth considering. Known for its beneficial bacteria formula that targets and kills odors, this 32 oz solution has been popular among RV owners who want to keep their holding tank fresh and odor-free. Just follow the recommended measurements, and you are good to go.4. Fast Acting: Many users report noticing a significant decrease in odors within a short time, which is a huge plus for anyone dealing with stubborn tank smells.Cons (Realistic, but Not Negative):1. Product Discontinuation: Since it is no longer in production, finding it might be more challenging or possibly more expensive.2. I use a safe-for-pets-and-kids product in the pond that keeps my water smelling like a fresh mountain stream
As a koi pond owner, I know the value of beneficial bacteria and enzymes. I use a safe-for-pets-and-kids product in the pond that keeps my water smelling like a fresh mountain stream. I was looking for something similar for the RV. Didn't want chemicals or perfume. This is it.The people who sold us our first RV did not know how to maintain the black tank. Our repair guy told us it was 2/3 full of, um, you know. We followed the instructions on the bottle and it totally cleaned the tank. No more odor. Sensor started working. We bought a newer RV this week and I just used up my supply to do the first treatment and am ordering a big bottle for maintenance. We're selling our first RV in the spring and I'll give the new owners the low down on black tanks and a free 2 pack of the smaller treatment bottles to use on their first trip. More than the previous owner did for us. Shame!I have no idea why this doesn't work for some. I know with pond bacteria (other than special winter bacteria), you have to keep it from freezing and the bacteria have a shelf life. I wonder if those for whom it didn't work either got a previously frozen (or heated too high) bottle or an expired bottle. I don't know if this has a shelf life but I keep it in the house so it doesn't get overheated in the garage. It doesn't mention that on the bottle, I just do it.And for those who think: bacteria! Ewww! Good (and bad) bacteria will grow in any water. We get good bacteria to grow in our ponds by feedin it, ie.: letting the fish "do their thing". In the spring before the beneficial bacteria is established or when we're feeding heavily or are over crowded, we use bottled bacteria to keep our fish healthy.

Works for septic systems
We have a homemade septic system on our property hooked to our 43ft camper and this stuff is great for breaking down waste! I had to redo our septic a few months back and the solid waste had become a problem in the bottom of the container. It was not able to break down properly. So on this new system I started adding a bottle to it and it seems to be breaking all the solids down and toilet paper as well. No issues. I don't think it would help if you are just going to use it for a few days in a camper tank though. It needs more time to break solids down IMO. But it seems to work in our case for standing waste in our tank.

Does the job in the camper black water tank!
I had another solution that didn't stop the stink in my camper toilet. It was terrible. I researched, and RV Digest It had good ratings, so I tried it. If you are in the camper longer than 4 days, you need to add a little every 4 days. Ever since I have been doing that, it has been easy breezy. Great product and reasonably priced.

Love this stuff!!
We switched to this product a couple of years ago because of the reviews and the fact the product we were using at first had that porta potty odor. This does the job and we no longer have that potty aura wafting about in our camper. Love it!
