Anchor Hocking Glass Mixing Bowl, 1.5-Quart, Clear

Very nice solid glass bowl, expect to get a lot of use out of it.

This 4-quart mixing bowl is sturdy, beautifully made, and the perfect size for everyday cooking and baking. The thick glass feels durable, cleans up easily, and doesn’t retain odors or stains. I’m so impressed with the quality that I’m already planning to buy more sizes to complete the collection!

They’re perfect. I bake bread in them and it turns out perfectly (as long as I follow the recipe).

This new one is identical to ones I have had for years. It even weighs the same!

* Update April 2014 * I hate to do this but have to downgrade my review. You'll have to check to see where these bowls are made now. They used to be made in the U.S. but now some (if not all) Anchor Hocking glass is made in China. Quite a disappointment (for me) because the USA-made factor was the primary reason why I used to seek out Anchor Hocking products.Original Review: When I recently replaced a set of old, chipped mixing bowls, I wanted to go with American-made, durable, solid glass. I chose an inexpensive 3-piece Pyrex set but ended up very frustrated with the sloped sides and the associated splattering I got whenever I used my hand-held electric mixer. Christmas baking was the last straw. I ordered this Anchor Hocking set for 2 reasons - 1) It's made in the U.S.A., and 2) the sides are much steeper than in the Pyrex sets. I am thrilled with my purchase and am using these bowls for everything now.*** Helpful Hint July 09 *** - This set doesn't come with the larger 4 qt. bowl, but you might be able to find it at Big Lots for a mere $5. Also, I kept my smallest Pyrex bowl with the sloped sides because I sometimes set it over a pan of water to double-boil/melt chocolate for recipes. The sloped sides give it the shallowness needed for double-boiling, but for EVERYTHING ELSE I use the Anchor Hocking bowls.*** Update March 2012 *** 5 years later and still one of my best purchases EVER. These heavy bowls have held up beautifully to the abuse they get in my kitchen.*** Update May 2013 *** 6 years later and I thought I'd add that these bowls may not be ideal for arthritis-sufferers. When these bowls are stored inside one another (as they are designed to do) they are quite heavy and it takes a decent amount of hand strength to nest and un-nest them for use. I'm noticing it more the older I get but there's NO WAY I'm trading in these bowls for plastic or stainless steel just yet!

Just what I wanted. Looked and worked as advertised. The bowls were half price compared to Pyrex. Would buy again.

Anchor Hocking is one of the best kitchen glassware makers and I was very surprised to find this bowl, I've been looking for one for simply ages. As long as you treat it right, this bowl will last decades.

there are a lot of tiny bubbles/eye sores but, still 5 stars for this bowl is excellent for mixing bake batters/doughs. it was so much easier to scrape my keto bread dough off the sides of this bowl. it’s shape isn’t as tall and rounded as most bowls so your more rigid silicone spatulas work better due to its more squarish shape. Not sure why i never bother buying glass mixing bowls before but, i liked this 1.5qt a lot apparently that i already ordered the 6 piece set from Amazon that isn’t even coming back in stock for 1-2 months! their bowl shape and the current $29 price for the 6 piece set makes the wait well worth it!!this 1.5qt is perfect for making small-medium keto doughs, it is oven proof so you could even mix your doughs and bake without even dirtying another dish/pan. I found using a silicone hot plate square thingie was helpful to keep bowl in place on counter when mixing however due to its high and shape, it was quite comfy to hold bowl with my arthritis inflicted smaller hand/fingers even though bowl is slightly on heavy side compared to metal bowls.

I have the bigger size but I needed this smaller one. It is perfect as a mixing bowl for baking because it is sturdy and heat proof. I have been using this brand for years.

Perfect size bowls, just as good as the more expensive brand, use these pretty much daily. A definite purchase.
