I was offered this product through the Amazon vine review programme and I was really happy to review for our outside Christmas lights.However on opening the box I had concerns straight away. The edges didn’t seem flush enough to be waterproof and the plastic is cheap.There seems to be lack of quality for a rubbish price !

We already have a couple of outdoor sockets but one more needed near front driveway. This is very similar design and quality as the ones we got from DIY store. It is a standard double socket inside the weather resistant housing so is easy to wire and install. I was surprised that a waterproof cable entry grommet was included as this is normally something I would expect to buy as an extra.In use it does the job. Providing the cable on the plug lead is not too heavy it will lock closed over the plug. In addition to making the socket resist rain and hose water falling on it the plug cannot be easily pulled out. Ideal when an extension lead needs unreeling as walking away with the reel does not pull out the plug. It is here though that it loses a star.There is a rubber seal in the body which is in a slot around the outside edge and seals the cover and cable when the unit is closed. Unfortunately when the cover was opened it took most of the seal out with it. I did not notice at first until I looked to see why I could not get the cover closed again. It was not easy to get the rubber back in place so I have now fixed it in place with some super glue.Overall a good product and worth the price but make sure the rubber seal is properly seated.If my review helps please click the 'helpful' button so I know I am not wasting my time. I ordered this outdoor switch and socket for husband who wants make connection outside for lawnmower, Karcher or Christmas lights. This product is all in one we need- double socket and waterproof strong plastic cover with option to add locker and secure it when not in use.It's very convenient to have socket outside the house so when doing basic garden jobs, we dont need to have window or door open to have access to electricity.Switch arrived well packed in strong box with screw fixings and instruction manual.The box is sealed and liquid doesnt have access to socket but I think after some time of use this thin rubber may snap so the waterproof assurance will not apply to it any more. We always can try to fix it ourselves.Sockets have useful switches so even if we want to keep cable plugged into socket, we can switch it off and lock the casing with padlock. Casing is designed to keep the cable in with plug (there are 2 holes underneath, where casing opens with clips.Casing have designed holes for main energy supply but this holes are blocked so we decide which one we want to use for main cable (side ones or from back- wall mount one).Casing looks strong and not easy to damage.Husband knows how to fit it in and connect wiring so it will be easy for him to mount it on side of the house. In his opinion it's very well designed outdoor socket and it's good value for money.

I ordered this HerePow Weatherproof Outdoor Switch & Socket, 13A 2 Gang Plug Sockets for Parks, Gardens, garages, Outdoor and Other Wet Places.Running a cable to outdoors is normally done through the open back door of the house trailing the extension lead across the kitchen floor into the plug socket. With this IP66 enclosure mounted outside the house, I no longer need to run the extension lead inside the house. IP66 rating means that no dust can enter the unit and that it can withstand high pressure jets from any direction.The outdoor socket comes with a weatherproof seal around the outside of the socket, to be sure that water cannot penetrate inside. It feels well built, and opening and closing the lid feels solid. The clips secure the front cover in place, whilst the cable runs out the bottom of the socket.This device comes with on/off switches that allow you to turn off the power without removing the plug from the socket, whilst the red led shows that power is being sent - making it easy to see at night. Installation of this device would normally be from a spur from the ring main, which involves running a 2.5mm twin and earth cable from the existing ring main, which would provide power into the back of the box.Overall, a great little unit which is ideal for Christmas lights this time of year!

Closing clips snapped the first time I closed the unit so no longer watertight after day one.
