How high are the top bars? It does look a little small. Also, are they as downward-angled as they look in the photo?

I'm 6'0 foot tall and the top of the bars reach my waist. The angle of the top handles are very straight. I highly recommend this item. Very sturdy. Able to hold a 6'0 foot 315 pound guy.

how far apart are the dip bars at the most narrow spot?

Hey Mathew , The width at the narrow end with padding is approximately 21.5" wide , and while we're on it , the wide end with padding is approximately 24.5" I've been getting nice results with this dip stand . Go for it !

can you use a dip belt with this or will the weights hit the floor? i'm 5'9

Weights will more than likely hit the floor. I'm 6'2, and my knees almost touch doing chest dips.
