Product Description Directed by Pasquale Festa-Campanile (Hitch Hike) and starring European sex goddess Catherine Spaak (The Cat o' Nine Tails, La Ronde, Hotel) and French star Jean-Louis Trintignant (A Man and a Woman, The Conformist, And God Created Woman), The Libertine is about a demure young widow named Mimi (Chatherine Spaak), who discovers that her husband had a secret apartment equipped to satisfy his unusual sexual desires. Upset that he had turned to others for sexual satisfaction, Mimi decides to use the apartment for herself. Review Top-notch naughtiness! Sexpot Catherine Spaak, when she isn't naked, is decked out in hilariously mod fashions and styles. It's also beautifully lensed and dressed, with set design that fabulously captures that era as we can only imagine it was! --Shock CinemaThe Libertine comes across incredibly with wry humor and taste! --Harper' BazaarA One-Woman Kinsey Sex Survey! --WINS Radio

Cute Little 60s Italian Sex Comedy
Cheeky sex comedy, which is better than most of the late-60s Italian bedroom fare. Catherine Spaak is a widow who discovers her late husband kept an apartment for sideline amore (yeah, it is a stretch to think anyone would cheat on Catherine Spaak). She decides to see if the apartment works as well for her. Forget the original "X" rating, this is pretty tame stuff, though the stunning Ms. Spaak does expose some skin. If you are looking for a sexy, vintage euro-centric light comedy, this may be the ticket. Oh yeah, did I mention it stars Catherine Spaak?

The acting is good, the sets are interesting
It's a delightful foreign movie done in '69. It was probably scandalous in it's day, but today would only rate an 'R'. The acting is good, the sets are interesting. The background music so pleasant. It's a well done, Italian movie of it's genre.

beautiful actress, amazing soundtrack
Decent film, beautiful actress, amazing soundtrack, but mediocre picture quality. Mondo Macabro should release this film on blu-ray. They did an outstanding job with The Slave, an artsy and sexy film from the same period by the director of The Libertine.

Four Stars
Great classic movie! Good retro European flick. Though my wife thought some of the scenes were a little disturbing, I found interesting and humorous. But, I thought this movie was ahead of its time.

Catherine Spaak rocks!
Catherine Spaak makes this film enjoyable. The plot of a recent widow who discovers her late husband kept an apartment for his sexual hijinks is played out reasonably well. Good costuming, acceptable casting, and Catherine Spaak. Worth a look.

Widow takes role-plying trip!
It’s taken over 50 years to catch up with this movie, having missed it when it quickly disappeared following its 1969 limited UK release. But then it would have been different from what’s seen on this finely restored BluRay edition having originally suffered cuts from the British censor (specified, here, in one of several Special Features). Now it seems pretty tame stuff!Mimi (Catherine Spaak) discovers that her late husband had indulged in various sexual encounters in a secret apartment and, putting her innocence to one side, sets off on a role-playing trip herself, experiencing BDSM, slapping and such like with husbands, professional acquaintances, and total strangers. A slight comedy which some may find slow-moving, the story is entertaining told, resulting in a nostalgic timepiece that’s well complemented by a soft, dreamy soundtrack. Plus, of course, there’s the lovely Ms. Spaak.

Films with the same Title and story are much better
Good delivery and well packed, but my star rating is based on the film itself. Earlier films with this story and Title are much better.

Quite a good watch.

Téléphone Rose
Un film très correct qui malgré son titre pourrait être aujourd'hui comparé au téléphone rose des années 80.Intéressant tout de même.
