PERFECTION !!!! THE BEST COLD BREW FILTER I'VE USED SO FAR.
I have been making cold brew coffee for over a year and I've experimented with several different ways to separate the coffee from the grounds. I settled on a 2 step process.... pouring through a normal kitchen strainer to catch the bulk of the grounds and then straining it through a "coffee sock". It was messy and time consuming.... I knew there had to be a better way... and there is! This filter fits inside a standard WIDE MOUTH MASON JAR and allows me the choice of brewing the coffee with the grounds inside this filter or using the filter to separate the coffee from the grounds after brewing for 24 hours. I personally like brewing it first, then filtering the finished product.... only because I brew one-half gallon at a time and I prefer to use 2 cups of coffee grounds and 6 cups of filtered water... It yields a very strong coffee... I add a little Italian Sweet Cream and a touch of milk... perfection..... This filter strains out even the smallest of particles... MUCH better that other screens I've tried. It also allows for a richer flavor than I was getting when straining the coffee through a fabric ( flannel ??) "coffee sock". Love this thing. My wife wouldn't drink my cold brew because it was too gritty when using other screens and "no flavor" when using the coffee sock... but after I started using this filter she has been converted. Now i have to order another one of these filters so I can brew in bigger batches. The screen used in this filter is perfect! you'll still find a little silt residue after the coffee sits for a while but MUCH less than other filters.*** UPDATE.... did I say that I LOVE this filter? We've bought 3 of these filters and I brew a half gallon every 3 days. I think I've got the recipe down to an art now. Fill the filter with coffee ... grind the beans to a "semi-coarse" grind.... fill the half gallon mason jar 3/4 of the way with room temp filtered water. Drop in the Simple Life Cycle Mason Jar Filter pre filled with coffee. Pour water over the grounds until the water is about 1/2 inch from the rim of the jar. Cap it and let it stew for 24 to 36 hours. The end result will be STRONG and DELICIOUS with no need to strain or filter before drinking. I'll never "hot brew" coffee again.

Yes! It strains nut milk perfectly!
I was hoping to find an easier, less messy way to strain almond milk, and this worked perfectly. I use a two-quart Ball jar so the bottom of the strainer remains above the milk collecting below. Unlike squeezing a nut bag, the pulp remains fluffy and easy to dry to make almond flour. One cup of soaked and rinsed almonds pulverized with 3.5 cups of water in a Vitamix makes about 3 cups of nut milk and a half cup of dried pulp flour. Hands-on time is less than 5 minutes, and the strainer is easy to clean with a swish in soapy water and a good rinse. I am delighted to be able to recommend this product for making nut milks.

Cold Brew lover has found her mate!
I'm a bit obsessed with cold brew coffee and have been on the hunt for the perfect method for a long time now. Well...my mission is complete! I have tried SO many gadgets specifically for cold brew and this is by far beats them all. What a simple concept! Mason jar, filter, coffee grounds...and BOOM I get an amazing glass of cold brew coffee! I purchased the filter only since I could buy a 32oz mason jar at my local craft store for only $2. If any one is looking for the perfect cold brew coffee grounds I found that "Café Du Monde" coffee produces the best results!I simply put the filter in the mason jar, fill it with 1 cup of café du monde coffee, fill slowly with water, and refrigerate overnight. Once I have my cold brew I pour 2/3 cold brew and 1/3 water...add ice and creamer and I'm good to go!If you're a cold brew fanatic this is the by far the best product I have tried yet!

Great for half gallon jars too!
Works just as well with a half gallon jar, BUT I noticed it only fit through 2 of my 6 half gallon jars at the neck. I didn't want to shove it in the jar for fear that the bottom metal ring may pull off when I try to remove the filter and get left behind in the jar. Another question I wondered before I ordered was is if the wood lid was really necessary. It's not. The regular wide mouth lids and bands fit just fine over the filter rim. Recipe wise, I use enough coffee beans to fill my Bodum grinder almost full two times and fill to the top with fresh filtered water to get a double strength cold brew. I've also found that adding a spoonful of cocoa and/or cinnamon gives a wonderful hint of flavor. I got a small amount of coffee grinds that still squeaked through the filter, but it's a very fine mesh and no mesh filter is 100% perfect. For a metal mesh filter, it does an excellent job. If a little but of fine coffee ground sludge bothers you. Get over it and use a paper filter during or after your brew. It seems to be the only way.4 stars because it does the job well but the dimensions are a millimeter or two too large to guarantee everyone can fit the filter into any given widemouth jar.

Nice & Easy to use.
Filters nicely for cold brew and loose leaf iced tea, doesn't leave any bits of residue behind. Fits a wide mouth mason jar great (can even use a cover over the lip to have a nice deal/clousure). My only concern is the structure of the mesh. Use caution when picking up, grab from the top lid. Mesh was a bit uneven at some spots and pricked me. Could easily be bent too if mishandled.

Simple. Happy.
My Simple Life Cycle Quart Mason Jar Cold Brew Coffee Maker is perfect! It does not take up much space and is easy to store. Using this cold brew coffee maker is easy. Simply put it in a wide mouth, quart sized mason jar, add your choice of coffee grounds (I use 1/2 cup of grounds. I tried 1 cup and it was too strong for my taste buds. You can experiment and find the perfect brew for you) pour your water over the grounds and let it brew for 12 hours. You will end up with, approximately, 3/4 of a jar of cold brew CONCENTRATE. To enjoy, I put ice in a glass, add half and half and vanilla coffee syrup, then a quarter cup of the concentrate. :0)
